Do you cut your own hair?

I have been cutting my own hair for a couple of months now:) It's actually not that big of a deal since I'm a guy and I cut it really short, sort of like a crew cut, only about 7-8mm long and I use a hair clipper. It's harder to cut it at the back of my head and near the ears and stuff but with the help of two mirrors I can actually manage. And I've gotten pretty good at it, at the beginning it took like half an hour, now it's like 15 minutes at most. I try to do it once in 7-8 days so I can do the procedure quickly and also, this way I can keep my hair from growing too long.
Anyway, are there any guys or girls here who cut their own hair?:) If so, how do you do it? Scissors/hair clippers, do you use mirrors or the help of somebody else, etc. How often do you do it?

Not that you don't deserve credit, but I think with girls it's a little trickier. A lot of guys I know cut their own hair - but usually it's the guys that have buzz cuts and really just take a razor to their head (not razor - but the automatic one for beards and stuff? I forget what they're called LOL). I used to cut my hair a lot.. Back in high school. Sometimes it would turn out great and other times not so much - it would be incredibly crooked. BUT I was experiencing my teenage rebellion/"punk" phase anyway so it was even cooler if it was crooked. LOL. Sad but true. Now I'm somewhat normal and actually go to salons - but not as often as I should (maybe once every six months!)

Yeah, that's why I said it's not that big of a deal with guys:) or at least guys who just cut their hair short and that's it:) like Jason Statham length. With all the other hairstyles I agree it is much harder. Although if you have really long hair and just want it a bit shorter that's almost as simple as doing a buzz cut:)

I've had really long hair when I was around 18, it's kinda annoying while it's getting longer but you still cannot tie it at the back, into a ponytale, you know. So when the weather was extremely windy, my hair was just all over the place, in my face, and in my eyes and stuff. Also, I realized long hair s*cks in the summer heat, at least for me. So it got to the length that I could actually tie it together at the back of my head, but shortly after that I got rid of most of it. I just didn't like how it requires a lot more care and stuff.
The Jason Statham look is really good for the summer:) I don't know if I'll let my hair grow a bit more during the winter, maybe I'll just wear hats and stuff. Also, I realized like a year ago that I'm probably getting a bit of the old male pattern baldness going, so that's also a reason while I decided to go down the Jason Statham route:) I'm nowhere near the baldness he's at, thankfully, I can still grow pretty good, full hair on the top of my head, but I think by the time I'm 35, I'll look like him, at least hairwise lol:)

WOW! Jason Statham is one of my favorite actors. Ever since I was young I always kept my hair short. I had it down to my eyebrows but I've never had it longer. I'm in the process of growing it out until I'm satisfied with it and if I don't like it then I'll just cut it off.

I don't cut my own hair but my fiancee cuts it for me. She uses clippers. I use to keep it kinda short but right now I'm growing it out so I'm not going to cut it. I don't trust a lot of public places with my hair because they have messed it up before. Plus it saves money when you can do it yourself or have someone do it for you.

Yea, When I was younger I let my mom cut mine and she messed it up so I was like not again lol. For a long time I let my uncle or my cousin cut my hair. I've even let my brother cut my hair. They do really good jobs but since I don't see them much I just have my fiancee do it. She does a really great job as well.

I have cut my own hair before. I qould have to say that was not a good idea for me. It was horrible. i ended up having to have someone fix the mess i made. The thought might cross my mind now and then to cut my own hair but I will leave that to professionals now.

I can only shave my hair, and I did this three times till now. I did this because I have hair fall problems and I realized that this helps. But I couldn't do a normal hair cut by myself because when I look in the mirror I always move my hand in the opposite direction, so I would only mess my hair.
I think it is great that you can do this, you are saving money and time, and you can do it whenever you want.

personally I wouldn't do that...I had problems when I went to different stylist with the hair cut that i got...I don't want to imagine the style that I would get if i cut my hair...disaster...sure I cut a few split ends but nothing more

I really don't do that. I think that for me, hair cutting is something that is best left to the professionals. For others, whether its you or knowing someone who is skilled at such a thing that could do it for free, that is really something that can be great. Obviously a real careful hand needs to be dealt and that is not something that everyone can handle.
Funnily enough I tried to cut my hair one time and it ended up quite the amusing disaster. I had to go anyway to the barber shot and had to get the rest of it cut off, so I had this really awkward looking bald look for a little bit until my hair grew back. Bald does not suit me that well. That is not an experiment that I will to try again but if it works for you, great.

I used to trim my bangs but not on cutting my own hair. I leave that for the expert to do. I can cut other people's hair but just to keep them straight. I admit I am never an expert hair cutter.

Well, that's good that you can cut your hair by yourself. Men can really do that, because their hair is naturally short. Though, some would find it hard specially the back part. Maybe for the back part your gf or wife can do it for you.
I also cut my hair once in a while, specially my bangs. Sometimes i do trim my hair at the sides of my face. But for a major hairstyle, i would like it to be done in the parlor.

No, I don't cut my own hair. I find it difficult. I guess I'm also scared with how it will look like after I cut it.

I cut my hair as well, since barbering for myself isn't the our budget. I have bangs now (my avatar is about five years old) and I trim the ends with regular household scissors. Since I'm visually impaired, I check with my husband to see if it's even (he has 20/20 vision).
As for my children I'll take them to the local barber shop (I think they call them hair dressing specialist or something like that now) because I want to save up for a professional clippers for my son and my daughter's hair is thicker than what I ever seen in my entire life, so that's why I seek the help of the barber shop lady.
I think it's awesome that we can take care of our own hair, I like the self-sufficient lifestyle. It saves us money and resources that we can have for more important things, or emergencies.

I do my husbands. We get in done in about 10 minutes. I use the clippers. The number 1(which is the longest) over his whole head. Then the number 2 over the lower part, and scissors and the comb to blend the two. We do it once a month. Saves us over a hundred dollars a year. Me, i keep my hair long, and just go for a trim every 4 months or so at the cheap places. My husband tried cutting mine once and it did not go over well.

I am a girl and I try not to cut my hair but sometimes I can't get to the hairdresser in time and I have to cut my bangs myself because otherwise they hang in my eyes and they drive me crazy.
I just cut them the other day, as a matter of fact, and I butchered them pretty badly this time. I used just kitchen sissors because that is all I have and they weren't so good and I made them really crooked. I don't really care as long as they aren't hanging in my eyes.
They grow so fast that within a couple weeks they will look better and in a couple weeks after that they will need to be cut again. I will go to my hairdresser the next time though so she can fix them and get them straight again so I will be able to try to trim them again when they need it. Sometimes I do a pretty good job cutting them straight so I will try again once they are straightened by my hairdresser.
Littlemissy here, see you later
