The article: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/In-Financial-Crisis-No-nytimes-220824617.html?x=0&.v=1 My comments, from the comments section: Ok, for those who clearly DON'T know what they're talking about, re-read this article. Spring of 2008! Summer 2008! Guess what THAT means! It wasn't "liberals, Democrats, or Obama" in the driver's seat! The President, at that time, was *Republican George Bush!* Next, read up on the article, here on Yahoo, and elsewhere, about GE. Go on, I'll be here when you get back. Read it? Good. GE paid ZERO taxes, AND got $3.2 BILLION back! They're not the only ones! You want to no the real reason behind no prosecutions, look right there. "Follow the money." "It's not a conspiracy..." the article says. Who says it is? This is fact; just read the very articles that are there. Oil companies make HUGE profits, even when employment's supposed to be at an all time low! These companies exploit tax loops holes and tax shelters, and then give thousands (at least) of dollars to these political campaign funds. That's no conspiracy, that basic math. Who are they going to listen to? A bunch of random people, or a person that gave them more money in a day then most people make in a week? Which brings to mind another question? If a person lies to you, or steals from you, would you believe them in the future? If not, then why do you listen to the very government that lies and steals from you? Almost $9 BILLION was unaccounted for in an audit regarding the Middle East. $9 BILLION! $3.2 BILLION REFUND TO GE! Yet you're still not DOING something about it! So, what can be done? Well, there are a few individuals that I think could be helpful. Judge Andrew Napolitano. Congressman Ron Paul. There are a few other Senators and Congressman, but Dr. Paul seems to be the most "famous." The problem, outside of the web, and a few shows here and there, the majority of "the American people" haven't heard of him, which is sad. While on one hand, I applaud Ron for returning extra funds to pay down the debt, in reality, I'm not sure if it was the best option. Some $140k against now over $1 TRILLION. Let's write that out: 140,000 - 1,000,000,000,000. FOUR SETS of zeroes, plus 1! Maybe a lil dent, at best! I'm inclined to think that maybe it would have been better spent on trying to get him in as President, and from there, he could make the changes we need. But then, just because we'd have Ron Paul in, would he be able to actually accomplish anything? Because then, he'd have to probably be fighting almost the entire body of Congress! Possibly even the Supreme Court. But then, IF Ron Paul actually was President, it would only be with a VERY solid backing of the American people, so maybe a "if you don't support the president, you can expect us to vote you out of office, NO SECOND CHANCES!" That's what it'd take, to get him in office: a VERY united American people. How to do that? Blow hard conservatives and radical liberals are always at each others' throats. In short, everyone's divided. Only by focusing in on what unites us is a chance actually stood. The focusing point, I think, should be obvious: the outrage we feel about how things are going down the toilet! This financial article. $9 Billion being "unaccounted for." GE paying NO taxes AND getting $3.2 BILLION refund. Meanwhile, we're paying nearly $4/gallon, where it's not already over (dreading the summer?). For those who follow Ron Paul, Campaign For Liberty, and the like, you may be familiar with their buzz word "money bomb." My suggestion, start "info bombs." What are they? Simple: bombarding the rest of the American people with information. Listen in on your fave radio station. When they have an opportunity to take callers' feedback (usually on a morning show, but sometimes whenever), that's your time. The talk is about the financial crisis. Start off with "...you know who I think would be able to handle this problem? Congressman Ron Paul!" Now, if you're really smart, you'll be on the web, with a web site, listing a quote, or an article about Paul. Read from that. That simple. If you know your stuff, and can go for more complex stuff, do so, but get Ron Paul's name out, and how he can make things better. Start off with your local radio stations, and even talk radio (even AM stations). If there's a tv show in your area, do that, too. College radio/tv? Info bomb. Start with them. Then, maybe go onto national shows, even ones that clearly go against your views. Big example, Rush. Just like the local stations. Listen to when they take callers. Call in, and "...you know who I think would be able to handle this problem? Congressman Ron Paul!" INFO BOMB! You're goal is to get the name out, and the more people you have wanting to look into Ron Paul, the better the chance for making something better happen! *Cue Mission Impossible Theme Music!*

In this day and age, the American people are simply too divided politically. Even if his name is gotten out there, you will have half the people loving him and the other half hating him and refusing to vote for him. Plus I have my doubts that the GOP nor the media will ever actually allow Paul to get the nomination. His views are simply too far out there for the GOP base to agree with him. That is not saying that he does not have some really good ideas, as he does, it is just that he is too far out there for the GOP base to support and nominate him, even if he got the majority support of the people....which he probably won't. Especially not when the big news medias insist on playing up Perry and Romney and keeping the news tied up with their names.
