You want to consider cutting benefits to military members and veterans?

As a Veteran, who was in the Philippines, Korea...when the leader there was talking about possible nukes, AND The Persian Gulf, I get very angry when there's talk about cutting our bens. This was my comment on military.com:
I'm sure I'm not the only Vet angry with this consideration! However, as was pointed out in another article on military.com, these benefits account for about *10%* of the total DOD budget! Yes, 10%! So, if there's a need to cut, cut from the OTHER 90%! Here's an example: The recent Falcon HTV-2 that was LOST! How much money was that, that was lost (no matter how temporary)? I also recall reading that PER FLIGHT, it cost $10 MILLION (some sources saying $30 MILLION)! And that's JUST ONE! How many other "toys" are being played with? I recall, in the Navy, the 56's (helicopters) costing $1 BILLION, or so our E-6 said! Then, you have Obama ILLEGALLY going into Libya, and in less than THREE MONTHS, $750 MILLION is chucked! Oh, and how about the nearly $9BILLION that was unaccounted for, last summer? It isn't the men and women "on the ground" that are the reason that money restraints are in need. It's the out of control spending of our "leaders," irregardless of party or branch affiliation. We need some leaders to fix things: Congressman Ron Paul in 2012!
So, in short, the *)(%&%$ need to STOP WASTING/LOOSING MILLIONS, BILLIONS, AND EVEN TRILLIONS! Do these warmongers consider that without Vets to fight their wars, they wouldn't be able to do what they do? Maybe that's why it's all talk, to get people in a huff...all about redirection and "smoke and mirrors..."

I do feel your sentiments. My dad was once in the military and a police too and the benefits that was supposed to be given to us was not given. It was hard living knowing that there should be somebody who will care for those who served their country. Anyways It seems that one of the things that a good president and those who are in power should do is to take care of those who protect the country.

I'm sure that all people who receive benefits of any kind would feel the same way.
But when it comes to cutting back on any sort of budget, it should be fair all around, not just some.
Another thing. If you've served your term of service with no injuries, I have to wonder why you need benefits if you are perfectly capable of getting a job.
There isn't a lot of fairness in life, and if you have a problem with the way your president is acting, you should take a stand and fight.

i am completely with you on this.
some fun facts here.
president Obama makes about 400,000 dollars a year, not including bonuses like an annual expense account, a travel account, and an entertainment stipend which brings the total to over 550,000 dollars a year.
a retired president does not have a set salary or pension his pay is actually the same as whatever the cabinet members are making, in 2008 it was around 191,300 a year.
members of the senior executive service make a minimum of 119,556 dollars a year and a maximum of 179,700 dollars a year
administrative appeals judges make on average 103,900- 143,700 dollars a year.
a psychiatrist makes around 189,516 dollars a year
a operation supervisor makes around 39,997 dollars a year
active duty soldier
(E1) with 2 years experience makes around 17,611
(E2) can make 19,739
(E3)between 20,758 to 23,400
(E4)22,993-27,911
(E5)25,081-31,442
(E6)27,374-34,088
a teacher makes between 20,000 to 50,000 dollars a year
a mechanic makes around 29,885 yearly
now what i think our problem is...
the fact that the government officials make way to much, if it wasnt for them we would never be in debt in the first place.
i would like to see the president work for 7.25 an hour
he sits there and orders people around, makes decisions (crappy ones i may add) lives in a big house and gets whatever he want while we dont get the chance to sit around, we are out doing actual hard work for crap money and god forbid something happens to us we are screwed because there is "not enough money in the government to help us."
if all of the government officials made 7.25 an hour for a while and went without their fancy houses and jets and everything else i bet we would be out of debt and back in the green in no time.
then they wouldnt have to cut our disability, vets, or medical to almost nothing.
but that is just my personal oppinion
