Hello mylotters! So currently, I am in a internet cafe since my connection at home is having problems for the past 3 days. Earlier this day, I was able to talk to a customer support representative of my internet provider and he told me that they are having problems since they are repairing various things that was damaged by the typhoon. Then I realized, even though it is really disappointing, I have no right to be angry or sad because I am fortunate enough that I only lost a good internet connection unlike the other flood victims who lost their homes, loved ones and even their lives. :) So I am thankful to GOD that nothing happened to me and my family. Nevertheless, I hope that my internet connection at home gets fix soon :). How about you guys, what do you feel when you can't use the internet for a few days?

If my Internet service were to go out for a few days, I would be in serious trouble. I work as a freelance writer online, and daily internet access is a MUST! I have tight deadlines that I work with and if I am unable to complete some of the work in a timely fashion, the job will be lost to me and passed on to someone else. As I already make very little money as it is, it's very stressful when my Internet goes out even for a short period of time.

Wow, that is really serious trouble. Did you try talking to your employer just in case you lost connection? I'm sure some arrangement could be made just in case this thing happened.

Hi Ghajini! I feel restless when there is no internet connection at home or at the office. I am used with having internet connection everyday and a day without it makes me feel handicapped. Well, in days that I'm really busy or if I'm on a travel, I don't miss the internet much. But when I'm at home or at the office, I need to have internet connection because that's my main past time and at the office, I need it a lot with my research. So if there's no internet, I really feel handicapped.

Are smart phones with internet connection features available in your place? If they are available, then they are of big help to you. With those gadgets, you can stay connected with the rest of the world anywhere you are as long as there is signal to connect to.

This is going to be my worst nightmare. It has already happened to me actually. The reason is that my work relies greatly on the connection of my internet for emails and other stuff. My research resource is the internet. Without it, I feel like I am in the lost planet of 3000BC.

You are right what's a few days of inconvience versus the loss of your home. If anything you could call and ask them to pro-rate your service since you were with out services. It feels weird to not have the net available. However, it being gone actually allows me to get more things done around my home which need to get done. We are just all so addicted to the internet but then other things suffer so it's good to take a break and realize the things around us.

Given that I am dependent on the Internet to make money, that would really be a bad good thing to say the very least. Granted its not the worst thing that could happen, especially when you think of all of the things that have happened in the world. It does seem to be a rather awful state of affairs especially this year all around the world. Hopefully things will improve in many ways. Still it would be a very bad thing. Without the Internet, you are pretty much cut off from what is here and now. The news media, whether print or television is slightly more behind on the Internet. What is news there might have been news an hour or even rather more over the Internet. Not to mention the money thing. Even losing it for a day or two really feels weird. There was a time without the Internet but that time has passed.

I had it happened to me before as well for a few days or maybe close to a week. How I feel? Well, at first it was kind of an uneasy feeling cause we are so used to being online everyday and then suddenly we are not able to which makes us like handicapped. After awhile, it feels kind of good to be able to get away from it for awhile. At least, we get to spend more of our time on other things besides the internet.

It is really disgusting having no internet connection for it is like saying no electricity at all. And you are right, good that it is the only thing you have lost. Nowadays, computer has been a part of our routine.Without facing it for just a day, I feel empty and dissatisfied.

This discussion is so right on time for me too. I was just realizing and punishing myself for being upset with my very slow connection. To be honest, it occurred to me that internet is the only way I could spend my free time because of my earning sites. But then, when the connection was slow, I watched tv and saw that there are places where a lot of people vacates their houses due to the speeding rise of water in their town. That's when the time I realized that I'm still blessed of being in the comfort of my home. I bid a prayer for these people and I asked for forgiveness of my selfish and childish act.

I had no internet connection from the morning . Just got it back . I was feeling so helpless and frustrated . It is really a pity whenever we face such situation but your post made me think . So many have lost homes and relatives due to natural calamities and war . We are in much better condition and so fortunate being encircled my friends and relative . Praise the lord ! Internet connection is just a petty thing . I feel now that it's foolish to cry over it when it gets lost for some hours or days . Thanks for the post .

It sucks to have lost your internet connection. You are right that you could have lost much more. You are very lucky. But even being without technology is a discomfort in our day and age. Hope it comes back up for you soon!

That sounds like nothing less than an absolute disaster! I used to visit Internet cafes once upon a time before getting the Internet in my home. Things are very different now and I'm so thankful that I have an Internet connection in my home. Let's hope that your Internet connection is restored quickly at home as there is only so much you can do in an Internet cafe and I'm referring to security related issues like online banking and things of that nature, I do a lot of that and I wouldn't be able to do that in an Internet cafe. If for some reason I do have the same problem as you I think I would just take a break away from the Internet altogether. I would probably get out there cycling and taking in the fresh air and hope that the technical gurus are doing their thing in trying to restore service. Anyway, life without the Internet is not a life at all as we have all come to rely on this great asset now. Andrew

I might gone crazy about it. I remember one time, when I told AT&T that I want to get rid of their landline service, and they cut my internet service as well. I told their representative, I specifically only want to get rid of landline, but not the internet, they apologize their misunderstanding. Then they told me that I have to hold up for 3 days before the internet up and running again. What a hassle!

It can be a problem if I have to do homework and give them on the internet. Most of what I do is not involving internet , I use internet just for information or fun. I also try to make some money on the internet but I don't use a lot of time about it. I guess few days is not a problem for me.

Considering the troubles caused by the typhoon I guess there's no reason to get mad. Yes, you're right there's no reason for you to get mad besides the fact there are those people who have lost larger than life. All you can do is to follow up frequently because some companies tend to ignore things.
