Do you suffer from light or sun deprivation? How and what do you do for it?

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, winter is approaching fast with the much shorter days along with cloudy and stormy skies. I have trouble during the winter with what I feel is a sun or light deprivation which causes me to have a low performance at work and to feel somewhat depressed until spring arrives.
Do any of you have this feeling during the winter months? What do you do for it to make yourself better?

I always sit under lots of bright lamps. That may not be a choice at work for you.I have heard that it also helps to have nature pictures on your screen saver, with bright light. I have also grown plants under lights in my home, and I feel like that was helpful.

Those grow lights, I guess that's what you are talking about. I have heard that there are some kind of particular lights that one can get that help with that. I should get one for where I sit to work mostly. I'll check into that!

I always just used wide spectrum fluorescent lights, but plant lights or grow lights are good. You could search for "light therapy" online. There are lamps that have special bulbs, and even some that you plug in in your room and they mimic a sunrise in spring.

Well if that isn't high tech, I don't know what is! :-) I will definitely look that up. I do think I recall that a gal that I know at the local Chamber of Commerce has her office in the basement where there are no windows. I believe she got one of those wide spectrum lights. I'll also ask her where she got it.

s I do suffer from it sometimes. It is mainly in the winter or on cloudy days when it rains for several days straight. I use a tanning bed.

Does the tanning bed make you feel better? Happier? Does it help to take away the doldrums of winter?

I'm like you two days of no sun gets me feeling very depressed. Living in New York almost all of my life I adapted and dealt with it. There is some type of sun lamp that is suppose to help with this problem. I have never used one however I heard it helps alot. Now retired I'm living in Puerto Rico where the sun shines just about everyday, which is heaven to me. So because of the sun shining almost everyday when we have a day of no sun I welcome it because I know its not going to be like this for a week like it could be living in New York during the winter.

I think I have some chat with people like you here in the past. They also have the same problem as yours. What they usually do is, in times like that, they usually migrate temporarily to other states or countries where the weather is good or sunny. You may try it as well.

for such things take lots of water everyday and drink fruits juices to make your body stable. use hat while under the sun or use rain coats to prevent yourself from rain.

OK, Thanks for the healthy advice! I have recently started drinking a lot more water every day than I had in the past. Here in California we get very little rain.
