A Friend is a Gift.

October 4, 2011 4:43am CST
Here's the thing: One of my closest friend is officially flying abroad and stay there for like almost her life..hehe kidding! but I really don't know.. My guess is she'll be spending her new life there.. On to pressing matters, she will be holding a farewell party soon and I have gathered my berks/ group of friends to think of gifts that we can give to her but they can't think of anything because they have businesses and dilemma's on their shoulders. I understand my friends are really busy and so am I but I have to do this because In our group I'm the one who really gives huge deal on memories and gift-giving..hahahahha screw me :) I was really thinking about being more memorable and might serve as a symbol of our friendship theeeeeeen I realized It's hard to think of something.. Our group's friendship since High School and now that we are all professionals are still the same nothing has changed, well maybe one that is we have less time playing DotA tournament together hahahaha! but we still laugh on same jokes, crack same jokes, play same games, think alike and just be crazy and boisterous, maybe a bit obnoxious and less lady-like opposite as to how our growth and maturity demands us to be.. There! I think that's what our friendship meant. Live.LAUGH.Love. In the end, I still have no clue in what to give. If you are to suggest hand-made cards or anything hand-made..i'm not sure if im gonna try it coz I really had an issue on my right-brain for being less creative :)) LOL! HELP! please?

Well i am really going to suggest making a hand made "somethingy". But what you have just said upfront, well...hmmm...Going to think for something else(hehe). Know what, even though it is not handmade maybe if you put a real effort on your gift maybe it will be really well appreciated. For example, if the gift or the "money" that you bought for that gift came from a great effort. Well, maybe, just maybe that gift will be really well appreciated. And besides, if you try to make a hand "thingys", even though it would end up doing something else(way way beyond from what you expect...heheh..joke). That would be also, i think, will be aprreciated. Just try, maybe on that time your right brain hemisphere will be functioning well:)).. Try making one:))

Maybe you can give her a montage of your group's photos. Even if you can't do it, I believe one of your friends shld be able to do that? Photos capture a person's various moments in life and so I think a montage wld be a great gift to give to your friend.

hi grazmaniandevil why not make a montage of pictures of your friends doing various things as this takes no special right brain anything, just some good glue and a lot of pictures 'of memorable things you all have done, then fit them together in an interesting display. glue them down and you have unique presents. there are books on doing montages in your local library and they are free too.they can be funny pictures, heart warming pictures, ones that make them remember events with you, make them so they can be hung on the wall.sounds good to me. lol

Someone already suggested Montage for me and I have to say you took Montage to a whole new level :)) TY! TY! TY! I was just planning on pasting picture but when you mentioned other sources to find pictures and ding! my right brain worked instantly. I'm now inspired and stoked to work on it.. Thank You, Hatley :)

Yes, true friends are hard to find and are as rare as diamonds. That is why I do not have so many real friends but I am quite choosy or maybe I am a bit difficult to get along with, lol.

Well my dear, I have experienced same confusion when my best friend would arranged farewell partyt ten years ago.We also have similar group and grown up from high school, even until now we still together. My point is our best friend will remain forever, distance does not big matter nowadays with rapid development of technology. My group is always keep in touch online, I remember we have been through various ways to communicate. After she left to London, we started mailing list and chatting through email, then through yahoo messenger and skype. We usually made arrangement due to different timezone issue. Back to the gift idea, I was sketch cartoon the story of our gank and signed off by all group member except her off course..and put on nice frame, she really happy and hangin on the wall to remind our togetherness.. I suggest you get creative idea from other group members as well, maybe they will have brilliant idea..nice topic..have a nice day..

Wow you have great bonds, omchesunche :) I hope we would still stay communicated even after she leaves or despite that she will be busy out there. :) I envy your gift of creativity that you made a sketch and made your gang into cartoons defining their personality..How i wish I have that! haha! Since most of my other members are very busy with their work, I am the only one from the group who can manage my time and work the gift out. I was thinking too like you said, your friend hanged it on her wall. I really want a gift for her that she can post on the wall and see everyday as she wakes up one morning. :) Thank you so much for enlightening me. It is such a great sense of hope that despite the party is near I can still come up ideas from mylot and might make a memorable gift possible.

hey hi first of all let me appreciate you for taking this measure to keep your days spent together memorable ... not all would be willing to do this midst the busy sections you have around. and about the gift you could give.. 1.i would opt for the collage work of all the funny pictures you or your gang has ever taken with her . 2.you say she is a daughter of a filthy rich guy and then you say she has a gf .???? dint get that point in tat case you could get her a photoframe with all your signatures printed on it . and inside the frame you could keep her picture with her soulmate. 3.even though its fake get her all the things that she actually eyed for .. she'll not feel bad that you got her the fakes ones instead she will be happy that you remembered all her liking and made an attempt through your own budget to get her all those things ... happy day :)

Hey Kittie123 ;) Thank you so much for your comment and hehe.. I just can't bare to watch her leave without anything special from her long-time friends. 1. I am trying to make the collage work but my main prob is the creativity section..hehe but i'm working on it. I hope it's not one of my other failed attempts on art. 2. Yes, She is a Daughter of a Filthy Rich Family in our city. And yes, SHE has a GIRLFRIEND. (You get the picture) *wink* Photoframes great! :) I could scout for great frames around the city..hmmm ;p 3.Well, I know she won't mind if it's fake or not. She's always understanding but I don't want to be embarrassed (the problem is most of my part)..hehe Most of her friends buy her original things and I might be the only one who gave her a fake one..so I try to avoid those things to happen ;p Thank you so much from your list of suggestions.. at least now I'm getting a clear picture of what I'll give to her :))

I suggest you select one of the best group photo and have it blow up into a bigger size and be laminated as well. Also have a wallet size copy and distribute it to all your friends (group) for souvenir. So everyone has same photo in their wallet. have a good day
4 Oct 11
I did think of that but we only had 2 group pics and when I had it bigger the printer guy told me the pictures would be pixelated.. so I gave up on that idea.. Lamination is a great suggestion :) I should try those wallet sizes. I'll have to ask if lamination may cost much.. Thanks!

A friend is really a gift. Sometimes, you opened up your problems to your friends than your parents. It is that sometimes that we are more close to our friends than our parents. They can relate us more. well, sometimes it's not good to do that. All I can say is that friend is really a gift. They are people who will help us stand when we are very down.

Any gift that you can give is a special gift. So anything from you may she appreciate it, the important is you have something to give and the Gift that she received from you, is gave her a special memorable that she remember you when shes gone. its just like giving her a special moment that she can never forget. and makes her to promise to come back again. thru to make a party and bonding moment with your groups friend and family. when special moments have gone . you don't even know if you can rewind it. repeat it, or hope for it to happen again. there's nothing in this world as precious as time. So enjoy every second of bonding moment with your special friend while it last. : )

Well that's a bit sad on both parties, considering the time you have been through. But, the good thing about that is the chocolates! Just kidding, seriously just think about the future.... right? Well, my suggestions why don't you make a big picture frame of your barkadas? The wackiest picture of all wackiest.... I think that will do.

Oh! A Montage ;) Why haven't I thought of that! Now, this makes printing less expensive.Thank You So Much!
