As we all know, migraine is a type of headache that naturally occurs only on one side of the head. Well, the main question is how do we eliminate migraines? Or can we stop migraines? What is the cure then? Migraines can disturb our work since we cannot work efficiently if we are experiencing it. Another main question is what causes migraines? Is it hereditary? Or is it the cause of human activities?

Everytime it occurs, it can surely disrupt our activities. I usually just take a rest whenever it attacks. But then if it's too severe, I also take my medicine. Thank you for the advice.

If I in a state of sleep deprivation, certain migraine attack. To get rid of migraine, I usually take aspirin, and rest. If migraine is not reduced, I decided to check my migraine to doctor. Doctors certainly know right medicine.

You're right! It's better to try to take a rest first and see if the migraines will be gone. But if not, we can go see the doctors. Doctors really know what's best for us. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for sharing with me that. I also do the same thing. At first, I usually just take a rest and try to see if it would go away by itself. But if not, that's the time I will take my medicines.

hi, welcome to my lot. I am also one of the migraine affected. It is really true when we are in pain we just need to sleep and even someone spokes to us softly, it is very annoying. I don't think it is hereditary as no one in my family is having this problem. It is caused to due to sleeplessness, stress and tension. I have tried a few simple things which is helping me to 'get the headache' often. Whenever you feel that your are about to get the pain, close your other nose (i.e. if the pain is on right head, close left nose) and take deep breath as much as you can. On getting up in the morning, straighten both hands and rub them fast till they get warm (a little heat is on), then gently place them in your eyes, cheeks and the ends of forehead. Reciting 'OM' for 3-4 minutes sitting straight in a chair with closed eyes (or closed ears with opened eyes)also helps.

Hi. I believe that all that you've mentioned that causes stress are all true. Thank you for sharing with me those exercises that you do when you have migraines. I appreciate it. Next time I'll have one, I'll try to do those things you've mentioned.

I do not experience migraine. However, I do experience headache sometimes. There are times that it gets severe. I do manage it with Paracetamol. I also sleep sometimes just to forget and ease the pain I have. This is only on my own experience. Maybe you could have also some remedies about it that is more effective than mine. Stress is one of the factor that triggers it. Take care dude!

I guess sleep is the best non pharmacological way to cope with migraines. I do sometimes opt to take medicines when I really can't handle the pain anymore. Thank you for sharing it with me. Take care.

I get about 4 or 5 each year - I have learned the signals of one so I always carry Excedrin Migraine. I try to get home or be at home if it develops since they can get pretty bad. I have been pretty lucky only 1 last year turned into a true migraine.

It's good that you know when it's about to occur. Yes, I think it's best if we carry medicines with us, so if ever they occur, we would be prepared.

Based on what I've learned in school, the most common cause of migraines is stress. That may include mental stress, ocular stress(eye stress), physical stress, and emotional stress. So I think the best way to combat it is through REST and RELAXATION. Give yourself a break. By the way, don't eat chocolates when you have migraines. It makes it worse.

Occasionally I get migraines and I just let it go. Sometimes I just rub my head over and over until the pain is gone. I think when people think too much is the cause of migraine. Like if your in stress or something like that and you spend so much time thinking about it. If you can afford to go to a doctor you should do it. They can give you prescriptions and how to avoid it in many ways.

Yeah! I also believe that stress may be one of the triggering factors that causes migraines. Thank you for the advice.

I think it varies from person to person. I know that for me medicine does not really help. I take some meds when my head hurt then go to sleep, but a day or two later the same headache comes back. So I prefer to just sleep it off because I dont believe meds really help me.

I can relate on this. I suffered from migraines for many years. My doctor has me on Propranolol 20 mg twice daily. It is a heart medication but it works in helping migraines. I've been on this medication for 11 months now and it really helps. I get mild headache sometimes and I just use an ice pack for relief. I find now I don't have to take over the counter pain medication for headache/migraines. I've also changed my diet and I exercise daily. This works for me. I also gave up caffeine. So now when the air pressure rises I don't have to fear the awful pain of a migraine!
I really hope you find some relief. I know how disruptive they are in your daily life.
