Inappropriate slogans on T-shirts

October 4, 2011 9:34am CST
As I turned the corner into my road after my shopping trip today, I was confronted with, to put it as kindly as I can, a woman who was definitely no oil-painting wearing a very garish and unsuitable T-shirt on which was emblazoned: 'Too hot too handle!' I then thought of at least 20 different reasons why I should NOT handle her at all! Have you seen any inappropriate slogans like this? What was your reaction? Give us all a laugh!

I wear them, because I have a sense of humor and I think that they are funny. When I was working in a customer-service type of job, I wore a T-shirt that said "I can only please one person per day, and today is not your day ... tomorrow is not looking good, either." The people that I helped thought it was funny, especially since I was a very good employee.

Did they noticed it ? Everybody is not attentive like Mandolingirl. I have worn during a meeting around a round table a T-shirt saying "I am surrounded by jerks" and nobody seemed to notice it.

Many years ago, when I was young and charming, The Milk Marketing Board in the UK came up with funny drinking-straw cartoon-characters to promote the health-benefits of drinking the white stuff. I bought one of their T-shirts with a row of these on it. Stupidly, while in the USA, I pointed to my chest-area and asked a group of young men: 'Do you know what these are?' You can imagine the replies!

There are so many that I have seen and find that most who do wear them simply do so out of fun and or for laughs. I have an old one that I have not worn in a long time, but remember wearing it once while out and it says: I am a virgin. LOL, yes you can believe the comments I got.

I think I've seen one of those shirts..that bit is in big print, then a little further down (where you'd probably have to get in close to read it!) it says in brackets (PS,this is an old shirt..)

I have seen those with the small print, but mine simply says I Am A Virgin. Someone approached me once and said, you must be really proud and I said, Very Proud!

That was very brave of you! I don't think I'll make any other comment on that one!

i have seen many inappropriate slogans which are indecent.if they wear shirts with that slogan, many men will get tempted and try to do some unwanted things.slogans like 'dare to touch' are really annoying and irretating.the people who wear tshirts with inapproprite slogans just trying to get public attention and finally they are going to be a loser.

I do think some of the slogans young girls wear are just asking for trouble from 'undesirables'. How can their elders let them out of the house like that?!

I always find it funny when certain people wear shirts like that. There have been plenty of times I've seen someone with a slogan shirt on and I've been "Um no, from what I see, this doesn't describe you at all". I can't stand the shirts with cocky slogans such as "Too hot to handle", etc. To me, it's like you're tooting your own horn and it's a bit annoying. I could understand maybe getting it as a gag gift from your partner just because maybe they think you're too hot to handle or whatever, but keep it home and don't wear it in public.

I agree with you on that point, Courtknee! Wear them in bed but not in public, please!

Oops! Where did that extra 'thumbs down' come from? Come to think of it, that is quite appropriate!

My sister was on Holiday this Summer and said She and Her Husband were passing a display of T-Shirts,one with what appeared to be the L*VI jeans brand on it,but She read "ELVIS"! Hubby was teasing her and saying you're Dyslexic... She went back another day and bought the Shirt and brought it home..Yep,it's in the typeface and same style as the Jeans Branding only with "ELVIS" on a Jeans Tab shaped background!

Crafty and cheeky of them!

I used to be a proofreader so when the printers 'get it wrong' it really annoys me even more!

Yes I have seen a lot of this. "Inappropriate slogans of T-Shirts". Actually is not the slogan that is inappropriate, maybe it's the one who's wearing it. Sometimes people tend to wear anything without noticing that is not suitable to them. Take for example, have you seen a very fat, I mean lousy girl who wears "I am too sexy too handle, too hot for you." Well, i have seen one, it was so gross. hahahha sorry! But it's the reality isn't it?

Then again, maybe you do not find that attractive, but perhaps their spouse/significant other feels that is true, and that gives the person the self-confidence and self-esteem to wear it. Not everybody likes people of the same body-type, and what you find attractive is not necessarily what others find attractive and vice versa.

Some people seem to live in their own fantasy world and never look in a mirror! They don't appear to be familiar with either their front or back sides!

Yes, I agree. It takes all sorts to make a world! It's a good job we are all different. This wasn't supposed to be a serious discussion. It was just supposed to make us laugh!

Yes there are a lot around but where I really get angry is when they are putting them on kids and babies, I just don't think it is right, I don't know why some people want to call attention to them-selves in such a way.

it depends on who is wearing the shirt. my daughter has a t shirt that says 'too pretty to do math' the thing is, she is quite smart so for us, the shirt doesnt really matter, but i am sure some people would take it the wrong way.

I have never looked at the person who was wearing the T-shirt. I only looked at the slogan and got a laugh, or not, from what was written. Now that you have opened my eyes I'll start connecting people with what they wear.

Not sure if this is inappropriate or not but I saw one that said "STop Tictonic Movement", I asked him what that was about he said, you know, the earths plates and just smirked. I still do not know what that meant or if it is possible to do anything about that but it made me laugh.

That's a weird one! I suppose it means that in the face of natural forces we can do nothing.

Everywhere I look someone is wearing a t-shirt that has some kind of inappropriate text on it. I think people buy them because they know others can't help but to stop and take a look, and we read them because they can be quite funny and give us a chuckle. The other day an older gentlemen was wearing a shirt that said "Drunk chicks think I'm hot". Inappropriate or not I laughed, the gentlemen wearing the shirt was a good looking guy and would have no issue with getting a sober woman it was the text alone that made me laugh.

It has become a fashion. Slogans of inappropriate meaning is now seen in most t shirt worn by man and woman alike. I think buying and wearing shirts like those, partly suggests your personality. If you think that it is offending to those who will see it, why use it? Those who buy it, know that it conveys a different meaning yet they are still fond of wearing those kind of clothing. I just wish that It will be ban from being sold in major shop and department stores.

I really don't mind seeing something funny and appropriate on a T but it is the insulting and frankly crude that is unpleasant to see when walking down the street!
