The worst type of tv show, IMO

The worst style is the "cop shows:" everything from COPS to CSI. Each and every one of these shows have these "cops" breaking the law, to "catch the bad guy," when they aren't acting totally unethical! I recall, in one episode, where one of the female leads acted to "seduce" the "bad guy," to get him to confess. Hello? I know a lot of people who like these shows, but I despise them! Maybe it's because I'm a Navy Veteran, who was in Korea when the North had claims of Nukes, and was in the Persian Gulf, and the very idea of an aspect of those who are supposed to defend America's, actually abusing the law just infuriates me. I was hurt, while enlisted (non-combat), and have disabilities that will be with me for the rest of my life. I was working in a VA hospital, a few years back, and there was this girl in a wheel chair, and her mom was crying. All I'd caught was "...but, she's 18." I've seen a lot of Vets missing limbs and other deformities, and to have these shows dump on the very laws that we in the military have fought--and sometimes, died for--angers me beyond words. However, I seem to be in the minority, when it comes to this issue. I personally wish these shows would be pulled, especially after every bit of news I get where cops--in real life--act like these "celebrities," when they don't act like thugs. I've read and seen several incidents of messed up cops, such as when they brutalize individuals with Down Syndrome. Then, seeing these cop shows, it seems to validate the mind-sets of these officers. "Who watches the watch men?" Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings!

I hate to say it but there are cops guilty of abuse. My mother used to work with a woman who cheated on her husband, a state trooper. He used his position to stalk her lovers and look for excuses to arrest them. Then the was a part-time local cop near who was cut off by a pick up truck during the day. He spent the rest of the day hunting the truck down. He found it in front of a trailer and when the guy in the trailer came out (in his underwear) that cop and another one knocked the guy to the ground and ground his face into the ground. And the punch line, the guy in the trailer was the owner or driver of the pick up. I remember when I went to college some of the guys who flunked out became state troopers. And there was a city in Connecticut that would hire a guy as a cop because his score was too high on an IQ test. The TV shows reflect real life even if they exaggerate it sometimes. If the shows were normal though, they all be like Dragnet.
