An over populated country especially in third world countries should encourage family planning so children will have quality life. China's strict two kids per family should be emulated.

Any Govt in our country enforcing such a law, however good (or bad) it may be, will receive severe criticism and may even lose power. By the way, how many Indian laws are followed strictly?

No. You can't control a population like that without serious consequences. China is facing a crisis--men looking for brides are vying with ten others for each woman because daughters aren't considered valuable and when you restrict a family to one child they will choose a male child. Conceit and pride is causing this. A man wants his name to go one to eternity and only a male child can carry it. How stupid is this?! You can't control reproduction successfully until you educate the population and conquer our false sense of pride. The human race is so self-absorbed and conceited that education is essentially useless in this regard.

It all depend on Indian government research on the pro and con it can derive from present India population number, it can only have a similar one child policy like China if the government believe that India is over populated and its own resources can not sustain the present population density well into the future. You don't just follow another country population policy for the sake of becoming a follower, you have to adopt the same policy only when you are having the same set of problems like China and can conclusively receive the same benefit from it. I also doubt that China rapid growth is the result of one child policy, instead of a well planned and thought out economy policy. Harikrisna....

I feel sorry for you and other people who think 1 child policy is a great thing and will help a country prosper.India is a full fledged democracy, not a communist country. In the present day India, how many people do you think have more than 2 children? Most of the people need only 2 kids. Our govt didnt force us to do anything but still when our country's economy started growing fast people realized that small family is happy family.Because of the 1 child policy china has started to face huge gender imbalance.I read somewhere that lots of chinese men are paying huge money to vietnamese woman as a reward to marry them.THe marriage broker also gets big money from it. You should be proud that you live in a country where there is no unnecessary restrictions imposed on you. Even without the 1child policy india's economy is growing at around 9%,almost near the growth of china.India lags behind china because they started industrialization in late 70s and india started it in early 90s.so that is the difference reflecting in the persent day economy of both the countries. In the long run the well being of an indian will be way better than that of a chinese but financially they will be better off than us.

Dear friend, It might be difficult for any nation to catter its citizens if it more than that what they can feed. But copying other country law is much complicated as china do have other aspects that helps its development, where the people are well catered for business, education, abroad jobs etc. I feel this helps their citizens much better. Moreover there are other issues that are creating more negative impact on India developments. Like corruptions, quality education to law income people, fuel price hikes, education expenses so on. I hope wished a law against those corrupters could have implemented so fast, at least that may help in much part of developemnt of India (Bharath)
