I'm always amused when my dogs tilt their heads. They look so cute. Every time I'm saying "Bye Bye" to my dogs, they always tilt their head. They also do that if I'm speaking to them and probably they are wondering what I am saying to them. I read an article that its a sign of dog's curiosity. Do you find it amusing when dogs tilt their heads? When do you see your dog tilt their heads?

Yes, seeing a dog tilting their heads is amusing. It is as if they just wish they knew our language. Curiousity? Isn't that a sign of blooming intelligence? I wonder if some dogs tilt more than others? Those little yipey ones probably never tilt their heads. They are so very annoying!

I like the medium sized to large. Blue Heelers, german sheperds and labradors.

SO you don't like small dogs like chihuahua? I love all kinds of dogs but I prefer the big ones. I think I will not get a small dog as a pet. I love those big and furry dogs like retrievers and huskies.

It is really cute when they do that. My dogs usually do that when I'm saying something at them. Usually a one on one talk and they are probably listening very carefully.

My dog does that too and I agree that it does look cute! Sometimes I will purposely tilt my head so she will copy the action. As far as my dog is concerned, she does this in order to earn herself some more pats and attention. My cats do something similar by tilting their heads backward while waiting for a cuddle.

Hi Paula! I don't have cats anymore. I have around 6 or 7 when I was young. When we moved to our new house, I can't bring them in. But our neighbor volunteered to take care of the cat. I remember my favorite cat is Wannie which is a very sweet cat.

That makes two of us.I simply love it. There is more to pets than calling them merely 4 legged!

Whenever my dog tilt their head. I always pat their head and tell them "good dog". I also gave them treats but they only do that whenever I'm saying something to them that somewhow they can't understand.

Oh, yes! It is indeed a cute cute thing that dogs do. Such an act always comes with a look in their eyes with a query that they cannot let out. Whenever this happens, I talk to my dog. I tell him why i am going away and that i will be back home soon. Dogs are such lovable beings. They always show love and intelligence, too. The dog that we have with us now, she shows signs of understanding about what i am telling her to do. I love my dog, we call her cherry and she loves her nickname as it is. I have come to believe that dogs tilt their heads when something is about them and they want to be enlightened about what it is that's happening or, as to what it is that is about.

One of my dog is named Chiwa. It is pretty obvious with my username, lol. They are really adorable creatures. Whenever I'm off to work, my dogs seems to be so sad. Somehow, I don't want to go to work anymore when I see my dog sad. But they are so excited and happy when I'm back.

Hi chiwasaki! That's really cute! I don't know if our dog Max tilt his head when I talk to him, I just don't notice. But I see him move his head when I'm faking that I dropped food on the floor for him to eat.

I tried using a ball as well. Their heads go up and down while looking for the ball. It is really cute. And after sometime, as if tired of watching the ball, they will just grab it.

Oh I used to love it when my dog did that! It's almost as if he was understanding what I was saying. I so miss having a dog. We can't where I live, unfortunately.

When we move to new house about a year ago, it took as so long before we find a new house. Most apartments and houses for don't allow dogs. I can't just give up my dogs and good thing we find an apartment where the owner is a dog lover. They allow us to have dogs in the apartment.

Yes they really cute whenever they do that. As if they are decoding what we are saying. My dogs usually sit in the chair beside me. When I talk to them, they tilt their heads as if they understand what I'm saying.

Off of the top of my head, the only time that I can think of when Jasmine and Chloe tilt their heads at me is when I am talking directly to one of the two of them. I always thought that the reason that they tilt their heads when I am talking to them is because of the fact that they are listening to me. I know that dogs aren't able to understand everything that we say, but I do think that there are some words that they are able to understand and that is what they are listening for.

Probably they tilt their heads if they can no longer understand what I'm saying. Usually they do that if I say contradicting words like "Bye bye" but then I'm still not going out. Or "Yum yum" but there's no food around. But it is really cute when they do that.

I'm really fond of these reactions. I'm wondering what's running on their minds. Sometimes my dogs look at me as if asking permission on something. Those are really cute moments.

I always love it when my dogs tilt their heads. I think that they are just listening to me or they hear me and they're saying "I know she's saying something, and I hear my name, but I don't know what she is saying." I think though that it is so cute and amusing to me when I see them do this. But the article that you read is probably right they are probably curious at what you are saying and wish they understood your words.

My dog too tilts his head when he hears some sharp sounds that he has never heard before, like the sound of ambulance etc. I think he is concentrating on to that sound by tilting his head.

Hi ravi! I read that dogs also tilt their heads to hear the sounds better. Maybe the dog is curious why the sound of ambulance is changing without any idea that it is moving. That is really cute.

I haven't had a dog for a long time now but we did have one when I was a kid. It was a dear and we loved it. It was really ferocious but would never do a thing to the family Anyway I also remember it tilting it's head. It looked so adorable! He used to tilt his head when we asked for his hand. He was trained to give his hand, sometimes both hands. And I remember it used to tilt its head whenever I asked for his hands and then give it. Aww I miss him.

Me and my dogs shake hands as well. Whenever I said "hawak kamay" or hold hands in English. My dog will give me their paws as if they want to shake my hands. My dog tilt their heads when I told them "Yum yum" and there's no food around. They are probably wondering where is the food.

Well, my Jack Russell tilts his head when sitting/resting outside of the house, and sees me come of the house to see him. Maybe sometimes it's a sign of curiosity.
