Research has shown that a huge 80% of women don't excersie enough, but 64% of us would do more to keep fit if we worked out with a friend. Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation is encouraging more of us to take part in team sports. They say not only is it a great way to stay healthy but its also a great way to meet new people, and as many sports take place indoors there's no excuse to blame the cold weather that is coming! Would you excersice with a group? I like to excercise in my home on the wiifit plus on my own rather than join a group as I can fit it in when I have time and not have to wait for others. What about you?

I actually do think that it would motivate me more, it sound a great idea, it would definitely motivate me more if I see others working out with me as well. I used to be enrolled in a gym, actually in both Bally's and Living Well Lady, and to be perfectly honest I used to do step and spinning classes in both and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than doing the excercise equipment. It's a lot more fun when you see others having fun and the instructor of course makes a lot of difference as well. So yes, I definitely do agree that as a group we are bound to be more motivated when participating in excercise activities.

I find I'm more motivated on my own and if I have the telly on another channel I jog better as I am distracted from the excerscie and the time goes quicker as I'm doing two things at once. Women are very good at multi tasking

That's how I normally do it now at home, since I am not enrolled in any gym membership at the current time. My hubby just recently purchased a spinning bike, since he's friends at work are now into spinning and he put in our room so that we are able to watch TV or listen to the radio. I prefer to watch the TV because like you said I tend to get distracted and time seems to go by faster.

If I had a workout buddy I would definitely work out more. It helps to do something with a friend especially when it is something you really don't feel like doing. Plus, it keeps you motivated. You can push each other. When you both start seeing results, it is exciting and makes it all worth it. You both did it together!

Hope you can find a keep fit buddy. I have named my trainer von the wiifit plus so that is like a buddy to me. I like to excersice alone, it wouldn't work for me to have a buddy as I know I would spend too much time chatting with thme instead of getting fit. BUT it is a very good idea, hence I posted it.

Around here,Women out Power walking with a Friend is a common enough sight..It would give an incentive not to back out if someone else was relying on you being there..

Yes power walking is very good for you. I tend to walk fast, my children moan that I do tend to walk too fast when we are out down town. We do tend to og out for long walks as a family. Its free, the children enjoy it we get fit and get lots of fresh air as well.

I would do that but there aren't that many women in my circle of friends who are into fitness. Of course, we always moan and groan and say that we need more exercise. Maybe if we all do it together, it be like having a support group.

Perhaps you could start your own support group up? Invite people round for a coffe and then do some workout excersices afterwards. Kill two birds with one stone

Hope you find the will to excersie again, its all worth it, no pain no gain they say. I found it very hard in the beginning but the more I did the more I felt better. My son has a treadmill and does really well well on it. The answer is to start with small goals nad work your way upwards. I found it hard in the begginning. Treadmill didn't take my fancy but I do like to jog on the wiifit.

I think this is true! I used to go to the gym every Saturday (which is my only free day) with a friend. But my friend got pregnant and so she stopped and I stopped going too. :( I really want to go back. Maybe I will this weekend though. LOL

When I was working out and trying to lose weight I think I would have done better if I had a buddy. I had a trainer and that certainly helped. It is always more fun to do things with others. Like traveling, watching events, and working out. It is also safer. Running together.

Sorry you didn't have a friend to work out with but pleased that you lost weight. Shame we can't form a group on here and keep track of each others progress.

The biggest problem for me is motivation. Although it is convenient to do it on my own, I realize that it's hard to find time for it. There is always something more important to do. In a group, I think I can get motivated. I think my competitive nature would come out, and would certainly aid in exercising.

I found it hard to get motivated in the begginning espically as it was hard and I found it really hard going. But I kept in there and after a few days it didn't seem so hard and I was actually enjoying it and it wasn't a chore anymore. Good luck

Havr to go on the Wii when the children are in bed or at school as soon as I get on it when they are about they want to go on it either on there own or with me. Its ok but you just know that if you didn't put it on there is no way they would have thought about it!!

It is said that women tend to do hings together and I find that kinda true! I remember my chemistry teacher was trying to explain how oxygen is a molecule because two oxygen particles hang out together. She'll always say that an oxygen molecule is like two girls who go to the bathroom together. And when I think about it, when my friends need to go to the restroom, they'll always ask me or one of my other friends to come with them. I always go by myself but my friends says she wants company with her. When I go shopping, I rather go with a group o friends, shopping by myself is kinda lonely. So women tend to feel more motivated when they're with their friends especially going out. Maybe your circumstances are a bit different because using the wii by yourself in the comforts of your home is a different situation compared to going to a gym. I wouldn't go to a gym by myself, how lonely

I tend to like shopping on my own. But then I hate shopping for clothes so this is prob the best. I'm sure if you went to the gym people would be friendly and chat to you. Hope you try the wiifit plus and see how good it is.

View from Arbor Road, Paso Robles - This is where I walked last night, October 4, and this is one view from the road through the trees.
I like to walk for excercise and used to walk several miles a week when my favorite ex-tenant, who was an environmental biologist, was my neighbor across our driveway. We would walk in the evening after work, sometimes with flashlights if it was already dark. Once she moved, it was hard to keep walking alone, since my husband is too disabled to walk very far. He swims at the gym for exercise and takes an aqua aerobics class. He enjoys the social, as well as the fitness aspects of a class. I know I would be more motivated to walk if my friend were still here, since we could walk and talk, and she would also point out different plants and animals I might not have noticed on my own. Walks with her were like nature walks. I still try to walk when I can, usually once on the weekend. The picture below was taken on my walk last night on a road which connects a lot of wineries. Most of the road is lined with vineyards and / or oak trees, with an occasional farm house. I have so many lovely places to walk here, and I wish I had more time and a partner to enjoy walking with.

I would walk with you,I'm sure we could learn a lot about each other. Sorry your friend moved away, hope you find a new friend soon to walk with. Glad that you are still trying to find time to walk. Loved your photo.

Perhaps we could prentend to go for a walk and make believe we are both there together while discussing what we can see on our walk? Think it would have to be under a new discussion, who should start it? You hopefully as I've got shy of starting anything at the mo.

I usually exercise alone, when we were busy to go to the gym or when Aunt Flo pays a visit. As for groups, it's usually the classes at my gym. I sometimes take Zumba classes because they go way far above and beyond my typical aerobic dancing classes. Other times, I take core-strengthening classes like Pilates and yoga. I sometimes work out with Muetti.

Why do you go when Aunt Flo visits? I'm so very nosy, tell me about your Aunt Flo please.

I think that is a great idea. I always plan to go to the gym to workout but I'm always lazy to go. I just use my Xbox Kinect to exercise. Maybe if we are a group then it will be interesting. But it's going to be hard to find an available time for busy people like us.

Pleased that even though you don't go to the gym you are using your xbox so you aren't being lazy, just getting fit and saving money at the same time
