What is your opinion on this: "the family that prays together stays together"?

I've heard this for all my life, I'm sure. I was raised in the church and our family has stayed together - my parents not for 60 years. When my parents relocated from the east coast to the west coast all of us came along. Do you think that the family who prays together stays together?

I'm glad you believe it's effective. I believe in God and Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. Further I have read the book "The Secret" and I believe that a firm belief in what you want or are going for is highly effective in your success.

I really do believe in this saying because having God to be the center of the family really makes them stick together. It would lead children to go on with what they were used to be doing when they establish their own family. And it make me feel blessed that it's the love of God that binds us, (my own family) when we bow our heads together in prayer. Be blessed always!

Ronadelle - That's what happened in my family. We were all raised in the church and our family has stuck together and us children and grandchildren have grown up to be pretty good, caring citizens. I believe that there is definitely good by sticking with God!

I seriously doubt that. When a child grow up becoming an adult, he/she will likely go out and live by her own after she can earn a living by herself. It doesn't matter whether the whole family go to church together or not. It is mainly culture or custom type of thing instead of religion or the family belief system.

Of course as adults the children go out and start their own family and home. But as with my whole family, we each have our own homes, but we stay in contact extremely frequently, we get together frequently and we are always there together. I think that being brought up in the church helped that and helped our basic caring personalities.

Yes, the church teaches families to stay together as well as providing other families for socialization and support.

Hi Kizzi Cat fish: Although this is not the only reason why some families succeed on being together I think that this statement has a lot of knowledge. It's not only because a family is praying but it really helps. When a family pray together they usually feel more united and they are better communicating each other's feelings. Love and understanding is very important for families to stay together. ALVARO

It has nothing to do with moving from one part of the country to another, but a family is less likely to get divorced. And they do stay in touch. And the only reason they would move apart is for financial reasons. So in sense, they do stay together, but it is in spirit.

I think prayer is good in the family. It does help keep the family together but not every time.
