Do you bother yourself about getting the latest cellular phone model?

I don't.
Aside from not having lots of money, I am not bothered at all about the need to change my current cellular phone unit to the latest Android phone, for example.
I am not the type who gets green-eyed because a co-employee or a cousin has the new and latest model of a known cellular phone. Honestly.
Cellular phones are tools for communication. A unit has to serve me only that purpose. Nothing more, nothing less. I will not be needing the other features. If I need a camera, I will bring my digicam. Actually, I would prefer the latest model of a camera. I love photography and someday, that is where I would be spending time and money.
But the cell phones, I am content I have one, even if it's outdated. I'll junk it if it's not serving its purpose anymore. ha ha

same here ,i also treat celphones as a object to communicate rather than being a tool of envy and creating ripples in friend circle about me having the latest technology on the block right into my pocket.Ialso treat cell phones as a object of communication whose invention and birth has been necesararirly for talking over long distance wirelessly.I have some of my friends who just cudnt control themselves by seeing the latest phone and always sorting out ways to be able to purchasethem even if it demands them to cancel out thier outings with our group many times ,you know saving for the phone.Recently one comapny showcased the add about a boy crazy about the cellphones and even ready to work as a chef in a downtown resturant just to make some money to get the phone ,and i was wondering what a dedication this boy have ,if he had even 10% of the dedication into his studies then h would surely wudnt have to work in the resturant to have money I felt pity for poor boy and company used it as a marketing trick.Never mind these viewpoints are soley and solely related to me and concerns me ,I dont impose them on tothers just my way of thinking thats all.But i strongly feel that everything has a place in our life and people shudnt try to magnify or diminish that role in our life everything should have a rightfull share thats shud be it

Actually, I am really tempted to buy Nokia 700 or Nokia C7. I just really love the features of these phones.
Right now, it costs around more or less 14,000 pesos. It is kinda very expensive because I can already buy a lot of things with that money or maybe I can add additional money to buy a laptop instead. I saw a brandnew laptop being sold at around 16,000 php for Neo and 17,000 php for E-machine. So, all in all, there is only 2 to 3K advantage instead of buying these high-end phones.
Currently, I am just using an ordinary monochrome phone, which is nokia 1280, and I am a little bit satisfied with it hehe.
Happy mylotting! GOD bless.

Haha yea I am going to be honest but I do always try to get the newest model of a phone or any gadget. I don't just get it because someone in my family or friend has it though. If they have it and that gadget doesn't come to my attention, I don't or wouldn't buy it at all. I only buy the ones that look cool and have what I want in a gadget. If they are cellulars, I guess I have to wait for 2yrs for a newer phone to come out then haha.

hello, 00fear! wow. i have nothing against anyone who tries to get the latest model for a phone or a gadget. i understand that this depends on one's capability(or maybe status), too. but i believe we should always have in mind a valid reason why we need to purchase something. though it is not really my concern. i do not want anybody tell me why do i care!

of course not.
most of the time it's just knocking around in your bag or your pocket. you don't spend much time looking at it. I just get a new one when I renew my contract, and get whichever one is availiable. I'm more interested in getting a new laptop when I renew than in getting a high tech phone.
a lot of the time, I forget to charge mine, or leave it switched off after a cinema trip and forget to turn it back on until I need to use it. once that was for two weeks
if it makes calls and can receive text messages, that's all I need. I like that I can check facebook on it if I'm bored, but even then I hardly use that facility.
anything else is not important. I have my ipod for my music. I have my SLR to take pictures. a phone can't replace these gadgets for me. all it needs to be is a phone.
I have better things to spend my money on than a phone.

I also do not have a lot of money but i am into gadgets..i guess i am a techie, i am into these stuff, but i do not keep on buying gadgets, or keep up with the latest model. I recently acquired a new phone though, because i need it and well, i can read an ebook in it that is one of the reasons why i purchased it or rather applied for it, since it is a postpaid plan. The reasons why i love my new phone is that, i can not only send text messages in it, but i can also use it as a camera, since its camera shots are great and i can read an ebook in it and since i am also into music i can store all my fave songs in it..and because i travel a lot it serves me well while i am on the bus.

I am now contented to my outdated phone. It has fast internet connection(3g),camera,music player, touch screen, etc.I think my phone can do what what the latest handsets can do.I can download and play games, even those that are in 3d,browse the internet easily using opera, take good photos with its 5 mega pixel camera, etc.I am just contented with my phone now.

I think it is enough because it offers me what I need from a phone.I can call, text and browse the internet through it.It has almost anything the latest handsets can do.I will only buy new one once it no more works or does not serve me well.hehe.

I have realised that if we decide to get the latest model of electronics and similar stuff then we may end up buying new gadgets every six months or so because the manufacturers never get tired of churning out new products. I think the thing to do is to stick to the products you have as long as they work well and then get the new ones when you have to.

Oh I have to tell, that I prefer to have one gadget rather than carrying multiple ones. I want to capture precious moments, so I need a camera. I want to be connected with people, friends and familyso I need a laptop. I need a phone, to get calls and to make calls. But if I can get all the three in one gadget a mobile phone. So recently I got a new cell phone which is an Android one and I am using it for all the above purposes.

In my case, i'm not bother at all. Actually, I'm now using a qwerty phone and it has some features that a smartphone contains. I can browse on the net, do the usual text messaging and calling. I can listen to music with it also. Though there are a lot of new released phones right now in the market still i am sticking with my old phone coz like the other people, i am also satisfied with my phone. :-)

I don't care the mobile phone as same as you. A mobile phone to me is just for talk in more easy way. You can talk anywhere and that's all purpose of a mobile phone. If I need a game to kill time, I would use laptop and Internet to find some interesting games to kill time. It's not necessary to have so many fancy functions in mobile phone. After all, it is just a phone, not a computer, not a camera. If the phone has so many functions, the quality of function would be discount. For example, the pixel of mobile phone definitely can not compete without high level digital camera. If you are not a person who need a mobile phone so much, you would not need so many function. For me, simple is always the best.

to be honest, if i really like the features of that phone i simply save for it. i had a new phone last january. i get the need to have another phone for some reasons. after 4 months, i have my newest phone and i gave my not so new phone to my younger sister. if i will just have the opportunity to use every brand and unit of all phones, i will be glad to take it cause i love gadgets, i like to explore every feature, and i like to know there advantages and disadvantages. :)

I don't have a phone at the moment 'cause I don't have the money for it. I want a blackberry so bad, but I know that I should look for a cheap Nokia. It's all about calling isn't it? I try to tell that to myself but it is not really easy. Everyone I know owns a smartphone. When I tell them I don't even have a phone they look at me all funny, and they act as if I'm poor. I'm not poor at all, not rich either, but I can afford myself food. Just not smartphones.

I know that there are many reasons out there to be envious of cellphone types and gadgets, but I don't really trouble myself frustrating over something that couldn't really make my life better nor make me have more money. I think these are unnecessary expenses that I could instead keep for something more important in life and in emergencies.
Don't get me wrong, I think we should update and not be stuck in the 'old age', but I think forcing the issue just because you don't want people to comment about you and your lifestyle. I think the only time one needs to replace phones is when it doesn't function properly anymore or perhaps someone gives you a new one.
This discussion just reminded me of a cousin. He and his wife are too 'techie' in the sense that they want to have the latest gadgets. A few months after they purchase something they're bound to pass it on (sell) to someone to buy another new one. Perhaps it's something okay since they do sell these gadgets, but if you know accounting and depreciation costs you know that in each upgrade you do there is a corresponding 'loss' because you don't sell the gadget with it's actual price, you sell it based on market value deduct with depreciation (since it's already used). What's more painful is the fact that they use their credit cards to purchase these.
Anyway, that's their life and them showing off their new gadgets don't affect me because I get mine for free. Still, I don't ask for it, it just comes and I do feel that it made my tasks easier to manage.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

hi, laydee.
i really think that it is not practical to spend money on things that are not necessary or not a priority. expensive cell phones are made for the rich, and those with excess money.
i do not have anything against people who prefer high-end phones. if i have excess money, i probably would be able to buy a new phone, too, but to be bothered about the latest gadgets or models when i really shouldn't, i think that would not happen.

I am using Nokia 6120 for almost 5 years now and I have it broken, fixed several times that the cost from fixing plus a little could have gotten me a new state of the art cp, but, I'm not into such thing. I'm more after the function of my unit which is for texting , calling and even taking pictures.
Plus, I never buy cp's . The only one that I bought was my Nokia 5110 when it was a hype and I was using an analog phone so big that it was an inconvenient carrying it around. So I got myself that Nokia, but it was snatched from me.
After that all the phones I'm using were from my partner. Hand me downs but they do serve their purpose. Maybe, it my phone is already beyond repair, then, that's the time I'll get myself a new one which is almost not a possibility since I don't have the money to spend for its lumpsum price and that my sister promise me to send her Nokia 9000. Again, I'm settling for another hand me down.

What for? I am content with my cheap and old phone because it serves the purpose.l I don't need anything fancy since much of the time it is just inside my bag and I only use it when I text or call. However, I am not saying that I do not admire nice phones. I do. I see beautiful phones on display windows and I say, wow, that's nice, but I don't lose sleep over it. It is not that important to me.

I'm kind the opposite of you. I am always looking for the best model of cell phone. If I can't buy the latest model, I buy the second best model. I still don't have an Iphone, but I'm saving money to buy one. My cousin have one and for what I see, it's worth to spend the money.

i am not bothered either about needing to have the latest and most up to date cell phone i do not even look at or pay attention to cell phones that come out unless it is time for me to replace mine and the only reason i replace mine when my contract runs out is because my old one is so beat up and worn out i have gotton attached to the camera on my cell phone that way i do not have to keep up with my digital camera too and i like having the internet on it so if i am out and need to look up something i can i think the older "out dated" cell phones are the most durable and longest lasting

Hi , me too I think like You ,Mobile could be for some people like a tool, doesnt need to be that modern or that expensive . I spent around 2 years with a Nokia with no camera on ,the cheapest one, but , then they dont last that long so I replaced it for another one and this time I got a better one with camera on, I really dont use the camera much , is a waist. I think, if I am going out I rather bring the camera with me. I admire the technology nowadays, but, I dont care what is the last new mobile on the market.
