For me my favorite musical insrument is Drums, though i can minorly play others but still drums is my forte.
I love drums, and i know it's important because without the drums there would be more members of the band that are out of tune, drummers are the setters of the tempo for me and drummers really adds energy and emotion to the song. Drummers are also the one that controls the rhythm and the backbone of the band which connects all of the players. Drummers are also the ones that maintains the beat. Sorry kind of biased because im a drummer.. I know every instrument in a band is important.
Personally drums are important to me just like you guys have your own special material thing, without my drums i dont think i can be maintain my sanity i need something to take my anger away, and i do that by playing rock songs with my drums. Drums rock
how about you what is your favorite musical instrument? how does it help you?

My favorite is the electric guitar. I love playing it though I'm not the greatest. Just like you, I love rock (Mostly heavy metal). The sound of a guitar squealing is just awesome to me. It calms me down and keeps me sane.

I've got the love for music in my blood. My grandpa played an acoustic guitar and he passed the love for guitars down to me. I haven't really tried to play an acoustic. I've played electric off and on since I was around 12 yrs. old. I've also played my dad's BC Rich Warlock bass. Music is my passion.

I love drums too and always wished i learned it back in school but sadly I didn't. Was the same with guitar and keyboards. It's sad I wasted my younger days just playing and never learning any of those instruments :(

Oops sorry for the confusion. I meant, I spent most of my childhood days just playing around with friends and never really learning any instruments.
I do have a guitar. Actually had one since I was really young but never really learned it. I have been practising myself but it really is one heck of a tough job

you can play but never learn? i dont quite get that... But if you really cant play the instruments you want, i suggest you buy some chear priced instrument first then if you really like playing one with awesomeness you can buy some standard instruments and you rock on

My favorites are Piano and Guitar. I can play the piano. I don't play guitar but i love the music from the instrument. When I play the piano or keyboard I escape reality Drums are cool. I like em in music but not my thing. I understand what you mean when you say you play them to get rid of stress. I can just picture something playing drums to rid of their anger. Rock on!

then why dont you try to learn? start with cheap instruments you can buy from nearby stores or malls or you can even buy from ebay or amazon, Then try to study online lessons. Learn to read music tab and notes first then you can go as you like further.

I used to play the piano. I've been playing it since i was a kid. When I was in college, I got jealous with a friend who plays the violin so well. So, i forced my parents to buy me one and i enrolled myself in violin lessons. but a few years later, i lost interest on playing those instruments. and without knowing I also started to lost my sanity. :D i turned out to be someone else i really don't like. :(
And now, I want my sanity and my old self back!!! :D I need to play again! :P

My favorite instrument is flute. I am still learning it but not getting enough time to practice. While I play, I really enjoy the sound and it gives me a very pleasant feeling that is difficult to express in words.

I like this discussion!
My favorite musical instrument is piano/keyboard. I learned playing because I took music as a course back in college. Playing piano makes me feel proud of myself because making music is my passion. I like how I'm being appreciated with my playing and I use it in church to accompany congregational and choral singing.

Oh, I see. I'd like to think that you're amazed of me too. Well, I guess we are always amazed to seeing somebody else doing something that we cannot do. Happy mylotting!

Like many others, I like violins very much. The first time I heard the song" Liang Zhu", I fell in love with it. The tunes are so beautiful and perculiar that until now I can still make a new start once I'm frustrated by hearing the song. Though it's a song praising love, to me, it's more like an inspiring melody which gives me courage and strength. Despite this, the shape of a violin is so elegant and graceful just like a fair lady, and no one can escape from its temptations.

Yeah, I almost learned by myself, and because of this, I have no professional concept and understanding of violin knowledge. It is for fun and relaxzation and I prefer soft and smooth melody.

I love so many instruments, it's hard to pick a favorite. I used to play a clarinet when I was young, and I loved it. But it started to push my teeth out, so the dentist said I should switch to brass. They felt a baritone horn was about right. I was nine years old and it was almost bigger than I was. I liked the clarinet better to play (It wasn't as heavy in parades, for one thing.) The baritone can be really beautiful when played by a master. But I like to listen more to the trumpet. There is so much one can do with it. I also enjoy listening to the flute. Same with the violin and the mellower cello. The truth is, though, that I like to hear them all together in a band or orchestra with the other instruments.
When I was older I taught myself just enough about how to play the classical guitar and piano to meet my own needs. I love listening to the classical guitar when I'm trying to relax and sleep.
So how do I pick a favorite?

Wow!! I really admire people who can hit or play the drums well. Actually I'm a frustrated drummer. It's my best friend who influence me to like drums. She's a drummer and I am really really proud of my best friend. However, among the musical instruments, my most favorite is guitar. If your curious what kind of guitar, maybe the plain one. Hmm.. what I mean is that I am not referring to bass guitar or electric. Just the simple one. It's because I know how to play it. However, I do not practice playing it anymore lately. But I still know how to strum and perform different chords..

hmm acoustic guitar? well if you just like to strum then it's just acoustic guitar for you but if you really want to rock on and strum some heavier sounds then i suggest electric guitar, but i haven't relaly touched an electric guitar my whole life :)))))))

I've always been dreaming of playing drums but in reality I'm playing piano.
My dad wanted me to learn piano so even if I like drums i ended up playing piano.
I am also fascinated with saxophone, it's a romantic instrument. :)

you were being forced to play instruments you dont want? when i was young i was also forced to play the guitar but i really dont like it so i ended up keeping my guitar in our storage room for years and asked for a drum, but well when i get old i saw bands with awesome guitarists and well learned to play guitar with just amazement from others.

Hi, i also vote for drums.
Drum is an instrument that stands out from the others, requires great physical energy to play it and and it is good to release stress of a hard day's work.
I did a course and i can consider me a novice drummer. Last year i have bought a new one drum with double pedal, really cool and overall have a good build quality.
Now i enjoy to play it in the weekend !

Viney, have you seen the band Godsmack with thier battle of the drums? Pretty powerful beats which I know you will enjoy and since you enjoy drumming you should also check out the Scottish and Orisha drumming, both are just as enertaining.
