I find it hard to do that. I have often wished I could be more direct and honest, but I am so afraid of hurting their feelings. I also think that it depends on the delivery. If a person is rude about how they are saying something to another, then I think it should be left unsaid.
To turn it around, I would sometimes prefer that I be told the truth. Although, I pretty much know what the truth is, so why even ask, right? Example: Does this skirt make my rump look big? Well, if you had to ask......

I tend to tell my friends my opinion if they ask for it, but it some times falls on deaf ears.Other times i do not both, as i find that some people do not like what we have to say, even though they find out later on that we were right. If they want the truth then i would most of the time tell them the truth.

If people ask me for an honest answer then I to will give them a honest answer, if I'm not sure if they actually take my honest answer then I try to dress it up a bit so they don't get too upset. But if the do ask then they should be able to accept what I tell them wether its not what they really want to hear.

I think everyone in the world have both merits and shortcomings. If I were asked by somebody my impression of her/him, I will be honest and frank on the merits. As for the shortcomings, it's better to speak in an euphemistic way, which they can accept.

hi, i agree with what you said.. honesty is always the best policy.. and i myself has also always been honest with everything i say. i don't like to pretend and say what i don't feel like... i always value honesty in everything, as much as possible.
