What is the best recommended anti-virus and who's your bet with among the best? My personal favorite is AVG Anti Virus. It is free, and I currently use it :). They are really working well in detecting some viruses. And also they don't easily accuse a good program as virus, not like Kaspersky do.. :P Having a lot of antivirus on your desktop will does it make your pc runs slow? Obviously. It is a bad idea to install too much anti virus on your computer as it reeaally will make your computer runs slow. Right now, I have AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, and SmadAV (a local antivirus) in my computer. But only one which act as "Real Time Protector" What is the pros and cont of having a lot of money Somehow I don't think this question is related with the previous questions.. [

Hehe, yeah, I already know it though.. :P And like I said above, it is a bad idea to install too much anti virus. No, it will not increase your computer's security from viruses. Instead, I believe, if there are too much anti viruses on your computer, it might mess up your computer..

Using more than one Anti-virus is never a good idea, it wont just slow down your computer your Anti-virus software may not even work properly. The best Anti-virus currently out there is AVG and second is Avast which has the ability to scan your computer for viruses before even entering the windows interface.

Yeah I agree with that, having a lot of anti-virus may slow down your pc. I think having two or three anti-virus may be effective in order to know their differences in terms of functionality. And it will be a good idea to choose those top or recommended by other users that have been tried and tested the products.

I think a good rule to follow is to have only one antivirus product on your pc. If you are looking for a free antivirus product then i would say that AVG is pretty popular and I would definitely recommend that, I have used AVG myself although now I use a paid product, Norton 360. When you have an antivirus product on your system there will be some use of resources whilst you are carrying out system scans and so forth but that is only natural. Also, if you have more than one antivirus on your system there's likely to be a conflict as the two won't work together. I use Norton 360 now and I will always use this, I've had no problems whatsoever. Andrew

One antivirus is usually enough to make your PC or laptop crawl and beg for mercy. Avast is a good antivirus, and I also like bit defender, but it may eventually slow down your laptop or PC. If your not a hardcore gamer or something, I would recommend using Linux, an antivirus hassle free OS.

having more than two anti-virus will slow down your computer.it is best to use one or two will be enough.i'm using microsoft security essential as primary one.really it is nice and good.and also i have avast also.but i don't prefer it.if you are using licensed os then prefer microsoft only.other wise you can use avast.but don't scan your pc with both anti-virus at a time.it will slow down your computer performance.

Maximum 2, and never let both of them active as resident program. Leave one as spare scanner (manually). If you let both of them scan in background, it can give false alarm and the computer will work really slow. Although you have i7 and 4gb+ RAM, it will slow unless you also install some SCSI drive with 10k RPM harddisk. Better install 1 antivirus and 1 firewall.

it is not a good idea. Depending on the combination and the system configuration you may (1) not notice any difference in speed; or (2) see a marked decrease in speed; or (3) get a hung computer. I am using Comodo Internet Security Premium Edition (free). Many people dislike it because it is heavier than Avast, and requires user input in the early stages. I like it that way.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy, but I don't run them all at once when scanning.

I would like to recommend you to look for similar posts to this post of yours . I have replied many times in similar posts and many other best users have given their opinion too so please have look in my lot posts itself..I am sure you may get a lot of information. but one thing i would like to suggest you chose of av is depend up on how you use your pc ,laptop i mean for personal use or commercial use..and what kind of internet connectivity do you have. If you have good net connectivity then you can look any good paid or free av but be careful if you dont have good net connectivity and you installed any paid or heavy av that will be of no use to you,in that case look for light av..such av are mostly free thats my opinion. good luck.

the fact that having an anti-virus already slows down your pc, but with the current security situation in the computing world, especially if you're using Windows OS,an anti-virus is a necessity. I have been using Avast! for more than a year now, and it has gotten better over time, I used to use AVG, but as time pass by, it becomes more of a memory hog. But currently, I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 as my primary OS (I have a dual-booted system) so I really don't have to worry about viruses for the mean time.

Actually I'm not that expert in computer stuffs. But my friend once told me that a PC must only have one anti-virus. Because one anti virus must not be compatible of the other one. I don't know which anti virus is the best. But I have tried using Norton, it's not so good for me. Currently I am using AVG. I also don't know if this is better than other anti virus but I don't have problem on it lately.
