To be a travel writer

I just want to share one of my dreams once I finish college. I want to be a travel writer. The idea of travelling and writing at the same time is really exciting for me. I like to write and just recently (a couple of months ago maybe), I discovered that I want to travel too. The things you would know and discover around the world. It's like, you wouldn't just be boxed in the country you grew up with, and you'll come to realize these other nations that do these and that with your own two eyes. And share those knowledge with the other people too. And of course, there are these daunting ideas that come with it. They say, three are a lot of competitions out there and it will not be easy to pursue this kind of work. I just really hope that I could reach this goal. That I won't stop and grow tired from catching this dream. Wishful thinking.

I have done a little bit of travel writing in my time, and I have to admit that it is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done. One of the best things about it is that you can work while you're travelling around the world, so your job just basically feels like one big holiday. I took a trip to Italy the last time I did travel writing, and the writing paid for the trip with enough left over to survive at home for three months while I planned my next trip. It's a wonderful job if you can get someone to pay you to do it.

Oh my. Yes. I do want it as a job also. :P Was it hard for you to find someone to hire you as a travel writer?

Hi FikleSky, I, too, would love to become a travel writer someday! Actually, it is more of a travel blogger wherein I could write my experiences on different places I've been and take photos of it and post it on my "travel blog" LOL! Blogging about an awesome scenery, writing about the dishes I've tasted and the people I've meet along the way would be so cool. I am planning to make one in the future but it would also take some planning and a lot of time to be able for me to create one. I have to consider buying DSLR to take quality photos and booking to different locations needs some cash. But I know I can do it and for sure you can accomplish your plans too. Happy Lotting!

I would also want to put up a travel blog of my own but also have someone to hire me. :P Me too, I'm also planning to buy an DSLR, besides that I'm also interested in photography, this would be a big help for my future plans. I hope that you accomplish your plans/dreams too.

I hope that you become a travel writer. I think that the combination of travel and writing sounds perfect to me. People write for travel guide books and magazines. I met a travel photographer on my travels. He said he worked with a travel writer. He took the photos and his travel writer did all the writing. I hope that you will enter one of the travel writing competitions and win. Good luck.

Oh wow. There are also travelling competitions? Cool. That reminds me, I'm also interested in taking photos. hah. I could do both at the same time, it'll be more challenging and a hands-on feel in it. ;)

Being a travel writer is a dream that may come true. As a matter of fact you need not travel at all because you can write about your own city or country. Getting published as a travel writer is very difficult because there is a lot of competition. Have you joined a travel community on the web? They allow you to post travel articles which is good practise to become a good writer. You can also join a writing / critique group. This is very useful for both for beginners and more advanced writers. Your peers will praise your work if you deserve it and make suggestions where you can improve. Send me a message and I can give you URLs for writing communities and critique groups.

Yes. That's it. The point where you want it for a living and there will be a lot of competition, for your work to be noticed. Hmm. I haven't tried it yet. That's a good idea. Thank you. Okay. I will. :)
