Today i found a secrate of my puppy .Even if it is not something worthy of speaking highly ,it is pretty interesting . Here is the process .After lunch, when washing bowls and plates ,through the window of kitchen i saw my puppy digging a hole at the corner of his cage. While i was wondering what he was doing ,what happened next shocked me .My puppy put his lunch ,a Mantou (similar to bread ),to the hole and buried it by his nose ."What the hell is he doing ?" i murmured myself .And i didn't get the answer untill half past 4 p.m .I saw he digging the Mantou out and ate it in a second .I don't think i have ever abused my puppy ,especially with food . So i am still confused about his weird behavior.Have your puppy ever done that ?

It is nothing weird in his behavior. It is a habit of millions year old and it is written in each dog's DNA. His ancestors hid their food in the ground to preserve it for later use and he does this, too.
You were lucky he had where to bury his Mantou. Do you want to know how it is when your dog tries to bury his food between the cushions? I'm sure you don't want to know.

to understand your puppy you must think back to the wolf, even though we have domesticated dog today they will always have some of their wild instincts. you pup may have smelt another animal on you or in the aria, so he will burry his food untill he realizes there is no threat. he may have been far down in the pack order wen he was with his mum and other sidlings, so he feels safer to hide some food incase the other pups got there first and got the best bits. its quite normal, dont worry.its nothing you are doing wrong. if you reserch the breed, find out wot they were originaly bread for it will help you understand your dog and help your relationship with him.

Dogs will often bury food which they don't need immediately. Your puppy is behaving quite normally.

I have no dog at the moment but my mother got one. He is Irish Setter quite big guy. When he was much younger few time he stolen pancakes from table and dug whole in the garden. He put them there and tried to musk any traces. But of course we seen it. I have no idea why he did it.
