Online earning: A substutue or supplement?

Lets say you know all the good places on the web for earning money online-writing, participating, referrals and so on-and are also hard working. You also do these quite well. Do/can you earn enough so that you don't have to do a day job? Do you know of people who are successful doing so? Is freelancing a good alternative to a day job? Can it be a substitute or a mere supplement? Useful if you can also share how much time one needs to spend for a decent earning.

Supplement. No matter what, it's going to stay this way.

Unfortunate synDash is correct only for income supplement if you can earn enough from websites you choose to work for. The truth of the matter is very few people are earning a real living working online.

I have been earning online about $100 a month for a long time. Many people think it´s wonderful, but for me, nice as it is, is a supplement. I use all my online earnings for vacations and travelling as my retirement pension does not allow them even being very careful with it as I am. So, I can say that my online earnings are a supplement that makes possible my only luxury. But it´s a big luxury that not many people can have. I for for this about half of my day.

There are several old sites that have low risk. And there are newer sites that sound good to me. I could give you explanations and links if we become friends and do it in a PM. If you know the rules, you cannot place links here. I like to exchange links so both my referral and I earn more. Only yesterday, I exchanged 5 sites. It is more work for mwe but, if they are legit, I will earnI only exchange international sites though because I don´t live in the US.

Hello marguicha, Its nice to know you earn a handsome monthly $ online and you owe it to yourself to indulge! You probably took time to get there an may have worked hard as well. If I am not inquisitive, may I know what were the channels that fetched good money? Thanks for sharing!

Hi There are people succeefully earned money through online jobs. Though it takes time to learn their trades. Some stays to their day job and leave it when they really start making money. If you make money through freelance work or business, I believe it is a good alternative to your day job because of the freedom it will give you. You don't have to stay at the office for 8 hours. You can choose your time at will and give most of your time to your family. :-)

Yeah, I know it is such a wonderful thing being able to quit a day job to be able to do something on your own at your convenience & as you'd want. Thanks for commenting.

Personally it can be a supplement especially for anyone starting out new. However, in order for it to be a supplement one has to have a sure paycheck and or method of sure monthly earnings off line such as a fixed monthly income. See for one to start at zero, there is no way online earnings will allow anyone new to be able to live off what they are earning initially. There is a misconception with extra money. In order for it to be considered extra one has to be able to have some to begin with. After one has mastered all the ins and outs with online earnings then that is the time one can consider living off of them. However, all online earners must remember that with the many changes with online sites it might not be something they can do forever. As for how much time, depends on if it is the only source of income, see if one has an offline job then they have to devote all their free time. If they are doing only online earnings then one has to devote all their time they possibly can, until they have mastered the online venture world. Sometimes it is hardly worth it, especially for beginners when one adds up all the hours invested versus the few dollars one can make.

I try to be as honest as possible with anyone asking me, simply because gaining a referral will do no good if they are not actively participating on a site. I find that the honesty keeps faithful members and they will entrust us anytime we explain other earning avenues. Thank you kindly for the BR!

I would say it is most definitely a supplement at least initially. It will take a lot of hard work and years I think to make enough to quit your day job. Plus you will have find something that you are really good at. You can be successful but you do have to find your calling for sure. I do not earn enough that I would be able to replace a day job for sure. If you are interested in article writing at all just friend me and I will pm you some sites that may be of help. Hope I helped you.

@soapies, That's a very quick and complete response. :) Thanks for the offer of help. I'm sending a friend request right away! Even if I weren't immediately looking to write articles. Thanks a lot. PS: I feel terrible about the misspelled 'Substitute' in the title of the post. :( I'm normally very particular about being right. I don't think I can edit it though. Sorry guys.

Do you have any idea how much work it is to write a good article. The one someone is willing to pay for (enough)? Writing 1 good article takes me 1 day or even more if I have to do some investigation too. This is what I call a day and night job. Of course you can only write about the subject you have knowledge about but sooner or later this will mean you are out of material or you only write what others already did before you and even better. I think it's more like a supplement for most people unless you are one of those rare people who know where to hit the jackpot.

Hi, I can understand that @WakeUpKitty. I have a blog with just about 116 articles in a span of two years [effectively two, though the blog is three years old; I was hibernating for about a year]. And I will take away about 16 from them which are not really thoughtful ones. Its called bloggers' block & I have written an article about that as well. :D It is not easy to come up with articles on a regular basis. How many do you write a month? How long have been into writing? So the majority view seems to be it is a supplement rather than a substitute. Thanks for sharing your views.

Personally anything i earn online goes into a savings account along with any tips i get at work and i intend to put this money towards my first house when i am older.Probably online earning replacing a day job is out of reach for most people.Except for those with a succesful online business or a particular skill they can sell freelance. For most people it will only be a little extra money, not every one can become internet millionaires in the same way not everyone is a millionaire in the real world.

I have been looking for a program that allows me to earn substantially since 2006. I never gave up hope until recently i found my ideal program. I started with this program about 40 days ago but I have earned US$90. I learnt long ago that you can never earn a significant sum of money with free programs unless you have maybe a million referrals. If you dun have a million referrals, to earn a lot with free programs, you have to not sleep at all working till your fingers bleed doing what these free programs tell you to do. Either you do that or find referrals until your eyes go blind looking at the computer screen. If you dun want to do all that you have to get a paid program. But you have to be careful also looking for them. A lot are scams but there are also genuine ones. The best is to ask a real person completely what you need to know about the program and then take a risk and join up. You will never know until you have tried. For a decent earning you have to be specific. The more you want, the longer you will have to spend promoting. And O yes I am working to make it a substitute.

Hi there, Good to hear persistence has paid off finally. And thanks for driving the truth really hard. Happy you are at a stage where you will make it a substitute. I'm out on a similar endeavor and have marked your advice. Thanks for posting-and so well.

I think online earning can rarely become a supplement. It's just my opinion. I think that rarely happens when you earn a lot of money online and you can pay your bills and supply all other necessities through it. All I can say is that for me, online earning just helps in some of our expenses.
