Germany went on to beat Turkey 3-1 to win 7 out 7 in the Euro qualifiers and put a stamp on the first spot in the group. Goals from Gomez, Muller and Shweinsteiger ensured that Germany win the match pretty easily. Are they the favorites going into the Euros? Cheers! Ram

I have a correction to make, Germany has won 9 out of 9, but this doesn't change the fact that they have won all the qualifying games so far and I am sure they will win the 10th as well on Tuesday. I have watched the game, and I was surprised how well a qualified team can play in front of a packed stadium, full of fanatic supporters, who have made a tremendous atmosphere, although it is not the same as it was earlier, when UEFA hadn't had so many rules, which eventually kill the spectacle made by supporters. To answer your question, yes, Germany is one of the main contestants, together with Spain, Holland and Italy in my opinion. Since I am a football fan, I am a Germany and Bayern fan and I am waiting Germany to win a major competition. They are the most constant team for over 10 years now and I do hope that this will be finally rewarded with a great trophy. It is very frustrating that other national teams, who haven't had so convincing football for such a long period have won something during this time, and Germany didn't. If Germany will win the Euro 2012 a childhood dream and hope will become true, and I think it will be a tremendous moment in my life, something even better than the moment when Bayern has won the Champions League in 2001. I really hope for that magic moment.

I for one am always amazed at the consistency of the German performance in the bigger tournaments. Of course in the last decade or so, they have not won any tournament. But in most of these cases they will make at least till the quarters or the semis. So in that sense you are right they are the most consistent national side. Cheers! Ram

Germany has made it to the final in 2002 and 2008, to the semis in 2006 and 2010, and haven't passed through the group stage in 2004. It is very frustrating that they have done it so well in 4 occasions, but they haven't won anything. Italy has won the WC in 2006, but otherwise they haven't done too much. Spain was good only from 2008, and they have won two trophies. This is what bugs me, because they haven't been so impressive for so long and still have won something, Germany was impressive, but still no trophy. I hope that this will change very soon. Like Schweinsteiger said, if there was no Spain, they would have won two trophies till now.

Germany is my favorite national team around the world. So for I believed Germany can get the final win of World cup 2010, if Muller wasn't punished that he can't join the game against Spain.

Hi ram, you are right.. I think Germany is one of the strongest contenders with Spain this time around..They have solid team with excellent coach and many star players. As usual, germany has strong mentality and motivation. They play like a diesel engine, slow at beginning but getting stronger and stronger in the end..I always love to see them play. Even without senior like michael ballack, they still strong..What do you think about Germany vs England now?I think Germany team is better even England has so many star players. The reason is Capello seems unable to build stable and self motivated team..

I think this current set of players have played together long enough and are now decently experienced. So I do not think they will really miss the experience of Ballack. I like the attacking game the Joachin Loew has got them playing. Cheers! Ram

I agree with your assessment that Ballack is more of a leader than Ozil. But I think the more I see of Muller, he looks like captaincy material in the future. What do you say about Muller? Cheers! Ram

Although Ballack was not so spectacular as Ozil is, I would prefer the Captain in the place of him. Ballack is a true German, he is mentally strong and he can add extra motivation to his team mates, even when they are struggling. Ozil is more skillful, but I don't see him gather the team among him, to make something which would bring the team out of trouble. German football was not like this earlier, the German football is based on power and team spirit, not on Total Football. I hope they will win the trophy with this kind of football, I really do, but I am a bit skeptical.

Germany are always one of the favourite going into a major tournament. After their impressive showing at the last world cup, I think could be a threat to Spain retaining their title. Together with Holland, the title will be one of theirs.

I think Italy is another team that performs well in big tournaments. But last world cup was a real let down for them. It was a really ageing team in South Africa. Cheers! Ram

I would add Italy as well, because they are a team who are very surprising. They seem to play better lately and they are always capable to concentrate a lot at major tournaments and make great final tournaments. But I certainly hope for Germany to win it, I want to see Germany lifting a major trophy, it is one of my childhood dreams.
