Music and Youtube

A few years ago there was a problem between youtube and several music companies. The issue comes with songs being used in videos, typically they have the right to use it because of the fair use clause in the copyright laws. The problem comes up though with the fact Youtube (well more of Google now) plays ads alongside the videos which makes them money. So because Youtube/Google has to make money (partially to run the site and partially because I find google to be rather greedy), there are companies that will not allow their music on youtube. Some have been able to reach an agreement with Youtube where they have a link to buy their song in the description of the video.
What do you guys think about the copyright issues on youtube? Do you think all the companies should agree to what the others have? After all, if they can be found on youtube it is great advertisement for them and their artists.

Whoever owns the rights to the songs actually can reserve that right because it stops the infringement of copyrights and reselling of music. Artists can have their managers help stop piracy because of this and I'd rather have a little more trouble finding legitimate songs on YouTube than to get a whacked copy.

well i personally have had probelems with uploading videos with music. there is always some sort of copyright problem so i don't even try anymore. but it doesnt realy make sense to me because there is still the "official" video or whatever for that particular song, so it is not like people dont still get to listen for free. the whole thing is kind of stupid if you ask me.
