I have stayed many times in 5 stars resorts. There is a standard that the hotel (or resort) must meet to be rated that way. Sometimes, a few, I have had complaints as the place did not meet the standard. The rooms must have some furnishings and facilities and the bathrooms too. At resorts, they must have pools, jacuzzi, rooms for exercises, places to make a barbecue and laundry service and/or machines. I usually go to good resorts as I have a timeshare that I can trade. It´s wonderful now that I´m not as young as I used to be, because I want to spend my vacations at a place as good as my house or better.

Alright so if a resort is of five star rating it must have Pools and other fun places for outdoor activities too.Any idea do they have to renew their ratings for certain period of time, Any regulating body keeps checking on the facilities they are providing that are according to the standards of the ratings they have? ..Well age is a factor but you should feel you are younger by heart and never miss the moments of enjoying the life, forget the age as long as you are fit physically and mentally.cheers.

Arubian resort - I took a picture at the resort where I went this year. It´s in Aruba.
For me, buying a timeshare made all the difference. We bought it almost 20 years ago and I only pay maintenance now. I pay a little more if I trade it to go elsewhere. There are all kinds of outdoor activities there and nearby.

Most holiday packages have provided 5 star comforts. I have been to the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The 5 star status is given mostly to those hotels that meet with certain standards of the particular country but all must have rooms with all facilities like ac, tv, et al., restaurant, swimming pool, shopping mall and other services that make the guest comfortable. I would give an extra star to those hotels that could provide me with big buckets in the bathroom as I am never comfortable having a bath in the bath tub. My thoughts go to the number of guests who could have used it!

ha ha nice sorry I already marked a post best response didn't read yours .. but thanks.you have given the details . I think normally the hotels I see around of 3 or 4 stars dont provide all facilities you mentioned like swimming pool, mall etc with their room services. well you have made me think about using bath tubs in any hotels if I ever have to..haha your thought is infectious and infected me too..No doubt after reading your thought about bath tubs in hotels people may start asking for buckets or have their bath in shower or under the tap.ha ha.Dont your thoughts go to all other facilities like using bedsheets sofa..pillows etc..?Same thought can be applied with all these things too? sorry just kidding.;)

I traveled to Turkey with my ex-boyfriend. He didn't like budget accommodation and made us stay in a five star hotel in Istanbul. The reception was very ornate. The room was very luxurious and have a Turkish bath in it. My best friend worked in travel and got discounts on hotels. We stayed at the Tower Thistle Hotel in London on the night of her hen night. It was very glitzy and it was situation close to Tower Bridge. I prefer to stay in locally owned guest houses. I like bed and breakfasts more than five star hotels.

Could you please explain friend what is special with Turkish bath? Well am also not fond of luxuries only food and services should be good ,rooms and sanitary system should be good including bathroom. If these facilities are good with supportive staffs then I would prefer that place rather than going on that's ratings.

Well, I used to stay at five star hotels when traveling on business trip, it's on my former company expense for sure. I observed those five star hotels shall fulfill certain criteria to eligible get those ratings. They must provide rooms and facilities and also certified staffs to provide service excellence to customers. One thing for sure, they should have name and reputation for that purpose.

Hmm turkey.ok mate but I dont think only good food and good room service make any hotel five star..because there are many 4 star and 3 star hotels also give good food and services..There must be some other facilities like how they treat international tourists , do they have that kind of staff...I have never stayed in five or even four star hotel yet..though
