There are several PTC sites that are asking for a screen copy of the first cashout before they give you the second one. A friend explained to me how to do it and one of the sites also said to check on a program named "paint" or similar. I donĀ“t have any. Is there something free, but sure as virus goes? And, how do I download it? Would you suggest any such program? Thanks!

You mean just a screen shot correct?
For the simplest way, you can press the "print screen button on your keyboard, or rather, "PrtSc". Press it once while being on the page you are on. This will take a picture of your screen.
After open paint. Press, "control + v" or "ctrl+v" this will paste the screen you just took a picture of. Now on paint, if you wanna delete or crop the image. Simply make a square box around the "cash out" part of your screen and press crop. This will leave just that area you made a box around of.
So you don't need a program. Take a picture using print screen, and control v to open on paint and crop the image and save the picture. Usually picture as jpeg so it is a small file.
I'll be happy to help if you have further questions.
Good luck!

Sorry, I quickly re-read your post, and you said you don't have "paint". Do you own a windows system? Usually paint is a free program on all Microsoft windows system. Try to search in "all program" of your computer under "start" if you own a windows system.

Or do Start - Run
Then type "mspaint" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.

@SpikeTheLobster, yes thank you very much for your post because she can confirm if the program is in her pc, as she said, she is not techie so she might not see the program in her " all programs" or start menu. She needs it right away so she can save her payment proof to jpeg format which most buxhost sites require in order to get next payment. Although "paint" should be standard in most MS operating systems like xp and windows7, I also had a bad experience where it was missing when I reformatted my pc so I already posted links where it could be down loaded safely

Well, as per explanation from way2vision,you just need to do printscreen to capture what appear on your pc screen and paste to any drawing editor program. The printscreen is just act like copying action. Not only paint but you can do paste to words or excel.

The original post was that she wanted to save the image in jpeg format. this is usually required in buxhost sites, where you have to post right away in the proof page in jpeg format to reduce the file size. Print screen+ ctrl is also good for saving the image but not in jpeg format, what you suggested is good in other sites where they have a forum to post your payment proof cause you can simply upload the image in a free photo hosting site like tinypic direct from your pc without being necessarily being in jpeg , get the url and post directly to the forum

I don't know if you solved the issue, but paint is usually on the start menu in the section called Accessories.
There is an opensource (free program) that is simular to photoshop. I prefer photoshop, but it is VERY expensive (At the moment $999.00). You can also download a free trial of it.
If you haven't figured it out, let me know and maybe I can create a cheat sheet to send you via email. (with pictures).

I know how that goes fn f11 then paste in just plain mspaint. There are programs at snapfiles dot com that can do this too, but fn f11 paste into mspaint is really easier.

Well, if you are running a windows operating system, you should have microsoft paint on your computer as it is one of the default programs that goes along with windows.
I don't personally use this one because I've been lucky enough to have photoshop on my computer, but it is very pricey and seeing as how you are looking for something that is free, it is way too expensive.
If you have a windows based operating system and don't have paint on your computer, check your system disks and you might be able to install it from those.
