do angry workers have the right to complain online?

Today posting every move, thought and feeling on social media sites is a way of life for many adults, particularly the young adults. Employers normally find themselves caught in the middle where they want to use social media services to promote their products and services but also are trying to determine where to draw the line for their workers right to post job grumpiness on such social media sites.

I am totally against it. I would say that we should be able to let our emotions out, to people who cares about us, to people who would listen and to our friends who would not do us harm.. not in public for everyone to see, we don't even talk to half of our friends in facebook.. and yet we broadcast our anger, emotions in there?! i think that is not the best thing to do... not very good.

chiyosan,
i would love to agree, however these days most of us just are so hooked on such sites and are in constant touch with your friends/colleagues that we find it best suited to vent our anger out there rather than in person or within my friends circle.
also what i feel is that when someone says something about their boss online actually thinks that he/she is heard better and after all gets all the attention in the world through likes and various comments on status messages.
cheers

I think a lot of the posting will be done in the heat of the moment and then it is out there for all to see. You could end up regretting what you post later.

yes TrvlArrngr, a lot of things we do impulsively we end up regretting later; putting up something on social media sites is like a scar on the face and remains with you till your grave.

Of course . It is unreasonable for workers to put up with boss's swear and satire .How can people vent their unhappiness if they are forbiden to post some words online? Anyway, since the employees are weak in the jobmarket,i think the bosses should be more magnanimous .What do you say ?

i completely agree with what you say - if you need to blow some steam off then u can do it in any way it pleases you and also the boss should be thoroughly professional and be more magnanimous - hell i would say he should learn from what his employees think of him and probably improve his/her management/leadership skills ;)
good post buddy :)

They have the liberty to do so, after all it is their account. They can rant all they want but really, it's such a waste of time and energy. Who cares really? The people on their friends' list don't have to hear it. I mean, c'mon. some details in our life should be kept private.

yea, as i mentioned earlier i completely agree that an employee should have complete liberty to do whatever he/she wants to with their account and if your boss is your friend and comes across something he find offending him/her he should rise above and learn something, because there must be something that he must be doing wrong.
