In this age and time, we are flooded with many modern day gadgets that we are spoilt for choice. We find it impossible to live without them as they make us more efficient, do things faster,
do more stuff, remember more things for a longer time, reduce wastages and generally, improve our lives most of the time!
Other than your smart phone or cell phone - are there any gadgets that made you a 'better' person. For example, I find the whistling kettle a simple but great invention. It allows me to multi-task and do other work. And I still know when to turn off the electricity when the water is boiled. This has made me a 'better' person in that I also do not waste electricity and or time.
Another important modern day gadget for me is the DVD recorder. It allows me to record TV programmes which I could not catch and allow me to watch them at a later point in time. I will therefore not miss the programme. 
I guess in that sense it made me a 'better' person as I am able to organise my time more effectively.

I find the computer and the internet makes me more efficient in writing my mails. I now can send as many emails as i can and received responses altos instantly. I now can keep of my file in more organized manner and I am contributing to the paperless cause and save the tress!

Indeed so Edna and our life becomes all the more quicker because of that. Everything is instant. Umm.... but it does provide alot of entertainment too...., besides back aches..

Oh, among our most helpful gadgets is the external hard disc for our computers. It greatly improves/enhances its capability to store more and more information. It is a fact that these days, we want our computers to have bottomless capability to store information and data.
Magical indeed is the whistling kettle. Magical too is the rice/multi cooker. We have a precious turbo broiler, whole fruit/vegetable/herb juicer, vegetable slicer...etc. Each gadget makes life easier to deal with and makes one work faster.

Hi thanks for your response. Indeed we are quite ledged onto the Information Technology edge and the external HDD is extremely handly. It keeps your life (practically your life) together.
Your photos for the memories of friends and family, your excel spreadsheet tracking the finances you have made on your family and many other functions. Basically your life in a capsule. 
It really amazes us how the Egyptians build their pyramids or the Chinese the Great Wall....

Got to go with the trusty old computer on this regard. And by extension the Internet, they do in fact go hand in hand. There is a lot of valuable information that I have learned, that there is a potential that I would have never known without these life enhancing technologies. Or if I had learned them, it would be a lot tougher process for sure.
I think that anything that allows me to be a bit smarter and a bit more organized would enhance the life. That is really going to lead to a very much more comfortable life for sure. There are going to be a lot of times where things are not going to be easy and it is going to be tricky to get them done, but the good old simple computer makes them much easier. Such a multipurpose invention that enhances the life for sure.

Who do you mean with: we?
I am able to live without all these extra's.
Yes I do have a cellphone (very simple one) in case of need.
I seldom watch tv, seldom listen to the radio. I don't read an newspaper.
I walk or take the bike as much as possible.
I have no games or gadgets or whatever.
I can cook on a fire I make outside which I do in Hungary and Africa several times a year for weeks. I walk to get water and I do my laundry by hand.
I can do without a dvd recorder, I don't need a microwave, I bake my own bread can make my own marmelade or whatever.
The fact there are many modern gadgets doesn't mean you are spoiled too. It's a choice to use them or not. And about 50 or 100 years ago there were new inventions too. Only if you just buy everything to belong to the group you are not able to live a life anymore without them. But be honest, I think many people have those gadget/invents bought and seldom or never use them anymore since then.
