The National Health Service gives help from free health advisers. If the persons body mass index is from 25 to 30 they get given a place at a gym free for 8 sessions and half price for another 8 sessions. If the persons body mass index is over 30 then the person can join a slimming club free. In their office they have posters with food swaps: one high in fat or sugar and replace it with one low in fat or sugar. One of the posters says "Eat a packet of crisps then climb stairs for two and a half hours".
I think that I kept some of my pregnancy weight when I had my daughter because I was so very ill after her birth. I did lose all my pregnancy weight after the birth of my disabled son because I was well. In June I weighted 85 kilos and in October I now weigh 80.3kg. I so wish I was back down to the 65 kilos I used to be. I am 171 cm tall. My body mass index is over 27. To be a healthy diet I need to have a body mass index between 20 and 25.
I am eating a more healthy diet, exercising more and visiting the gym once a week.
Have you got much of an opportunity to lose weight?
Which are your favorite ways to exercise in order to lose weight?

I think that this is a very good idea to be offering discounted gym memberships, however I don't understand how on Earth the NHS is going to be able to afford this when they can't seem to afford much else in the modern day. I think that there should be provisions within local doctor's surgeries for the public to use treadmills and weights, and this might mean that they were able to lose weight. Doctors would be able to "prescribe" work out sessions within their own practice, maybe three times per week per patient, and this would mean that it would help individuals to lose the weight that they need to lose in order to be healthy.

That is a great deal! I wish they had there over here. It is so hard to lose weight when I am stuck in my office for about 10 hours a day and then work in another office for 11 hours on Saturday. I know the key is staying active and getting in exercise.

No way did I know the NHS did that!! That is a fairly good deal as if a person started eating healthily and went to the gym once a week, I bet they would see a difference in just the 8 sessions alone!
I have lost weight recently due to my gallstones and I am losing it without trying because I am only eating a very low fat and bland diet which I have to stay on to avoid having a gallstone attack. I am happy I have lost weight but, I am fairly unhappy as I a not enjoying my food anymore so it is a bit of catch 22 for me to be honest! I know when I weighed myself at the doctors last friday I was 76.5kgs so I might be lower than that now.

I had started on the Mediterranean diet to lose weight when I discovered I had this lymphoma. So I decided I´d better not harm my body by changing my diet more than the doctors told me to change it for chemo. I weighted around 70 Kg until I quit smoking. In a month I went up to 80 Kg. Since then I have gone down 3 kilos and up 2, so nothing really happens.
We´ll see after this chemo.

Hi! I am happy for you and your realization. Their is a lot of advantage in losing weight not just for your self- esteem but most especially fro your health. Obesity is really a problem now because of the wrong lifestyle but we must strive to be healthy for our family and for ourselves.

Hi!It is a great difficulty for me to lose weight. My weight has been increasing since i stayed at home this summer vacation. Losing weight was a unfamiliar word for me,but now i think of it now and then. I have not made up my mind to lose weight yet, just complain sometimes.Recently,i ate a lot without any constraint.
Maybe ,it is really time for me to be determined to exercise a lot and be on a diet .
Willpower is essential. come on,let us diet together!

That sounds like a good idea. Although, having a BMI of more than 30, I'd still rather have the free gym places than the slimming club! Is this available all over England do you know? Because, while I've heard rumours and people saying it would be a good idea, I've never actually seen anything certain (or anything about how to go about getting this help). I would love to join a gym but it's so expensive and, whatever people say, it's really hard to lose weight on your own.
Anyway, the question. I've always found it really hard to lose weight but, recently, I discovered "Zumba" which is fun and I actually did start to lose weight by doing it. Saying that, I have the same problem again. I can't afford to keep going (and then there is having the time to do it as well). But, so far, that's the best and most fun way I've found. As I said, I would love to join a gym. I have been a couple of times if I've had a free session or something but I think I would enjoy that if I had the time and the money. At least with the gym though, you can go when it's convenient but for something like Zumba, you have to find one that happens at a convenient time.

I wish we had a free scheme for peole in certain weight catergories. Under the criteria you stated, I would qualify for the free 8 gym sessions.
I was much the same as you after pregnancy. I had an emergency c-section, and I was very ill, and wasn't at any stage able to do the post pregnancy exercises.
Basicly I loose weight by eating low fat foods. I have had monor success this year, in that I lost over 4 kilos in 4 months. Ihave come to a stop, with no weight loss over the past month. I like walking, which would be my only exercise. But either due to work or weather, I haven't walked that much lately, plus I have ha dcravings for swet foods.

I practise karate and I often play basketball. And I also jog a lot. So yeah, I do a lot of cardio and it's really helping me out.
I think the harder part is eating right. You really need to start eating your greens and lots of protein in general if you expect to see some changes.
