Could someone explain to me why we are helping immigrant pay for their college and we can't help our own American citizens? It really ticks me off to think people are getting a free ride.
When I was 22 making $6 an hour, I applied for financial assistance and it was denied. They told me I made too much money. I was living alone had to pay rent, a car payment, utilities etc. I was also told because I wasn't 25 yet I had to include my parents income on my financial assistance form. They lived 700 miles away and had no way to help me anyway. I just don't get it.

You must be one of those heartless people who are opposed to illegal immigration. Where is your sence of responsiblity, these poor people come to this country to get a better life so why should we not all work extra so that they can enjoy the good life without working. I suspose you are also one of those greedy people who think that giving back the Southwest is wrong. That is the trouble with all you hard working law abiding citizens you think that because you work hard and sacriface to get ahead that you should enjoy the fruits of your labor. You are wrong. You should work hard and put in extra time so that those who choose not to work and not to follow the law can enjoy the good life.
I would write more but as a retired person who saved and planned I have to go to work to pay the Income Tax on my Social Security that I already paid taxes on once.

I was trying to be satirical. I liked what Rick Santorum said at the debate when the issue of instate tuition being paid by illegals in Texas and other benefits being given them. Gov Perry suggested that Rick Santorum was "heartless". Rick Santorum replied that he had no problem with illegals attending college but let them pay out of state tuition rather than giving them a better deal than the Students of Texas.

Call it what you want. I still think it's unfair. I think we should be helping our students with their financial needs. We should want to educate America. We have classes such as spelling now being omitted as a class because of lack of funds and we're giving money away to immigrants. I have found that high school grads can't do math without a calculator. Spell without a dictionary and we are giving money to other counties. Vote or no vote educate American first.
