Windows 7 - Windows 7 best OS yet
sreekutty, one piece of suggestion. Its time you upgrade to Windows 7. 7 is much better than XP in many many ways. Why you want to keep XP? Any specific reason? Several reasons for upgrading 1. Support from Microsoft. On April 14, 2009, Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows XP 2. 64-bit computing. 3. XP-Mode - Through Windows XP Mode, you can use XP and still get the benefits of Windows 7. If you have the right version of Windows 7 (Professional or Ultimate), and the right kind of processor, you can have the best of both worlds -- Windows 7 and Windows XP. Windows XP Mode is one of the coolest things about Windows 7. Without diving into the geeky details, it allows you to run Windows XP in a virtual environment; the old XP programs think they're on an XP computer, and work as normal. You don't have to give up the things you love about Windows XP to get the many benefits of Windows 7.

Thank you dear Bond007, I should have asked you earlier. The reason for not changing is my husband. He is worried about losing word 2003 with which he is familiar. I will make him understand and switch to Windows7. Is there a free download available?

There are several factors for you to consider here. Windows XP is a good operating system but it is lacking in many things that I enjoy now with Windows Vista Home Edition. I hear that Windows 7 is even more greatly increased and smooth. I actually was disappointed with Windows XP because I'm a technical person on a computer and was not able to trouble shoot some things. My Vista does have Internet Explorer 9 but really your issue here is what are the minimum requirements from your computer. Seeing that I am capable of having the updated version, you may want to look at your computer's capabilities. You may be forced to upgrade.

That's one of the best browsers out there. The only other one I would recommend that is even faster is Opera. It's smaller and packs a punch in it's application.

IE 9 is not compatible for xp.. it's just for windows Vista+.. but for only IE I don't recommended to format your OS.. you can read about IE 9 and xp combination from http://techtalkindia.blogspot.com/2011/04/internet-explorer-9-arrives-but-not-for.html again saying.. first see your computer configuration.. and check if all your softwares are working with Windows Vista or 7 then try to upgrade with higher OS.. else not..

I am using window vista on PC and Win7 on laptop! I don't about expplorer 9 for XP but I certainly recommend upgrading to windows 7 as it's the most stable system! If you don't want losing XP, then you can setup your system as dual boot! I hope this help!

I would advise against using Internet Explorer as it is a bad, awful, browser that clunks up a lot of your computer resources. Especially when it is in Windows XP. However, if you must, Internet Explorer 9 is on compatible in Windows 7, if I am not mistaken. The last browser that allowed for XP compatibility is Internet Explorer 8 and after that, it doesn't work. Naturally Internet Explorer 8 is the last browser, so you either need to keep that or upgrade your windows. There is really no way around that. It is really nothing that can be done. It is just the way things worse. Obviously Windows wants you to upgrade, so they tend to force the issue with upgrades like that, but you can choose not to upgrade your Internet browser. Of course many do not recommend that because of security issues.

I think you should buy a new computer, they are really cheap today, I buyed my computer for 1700$ but now, it's almost useless. I think if you don't wanna lose xp you should buy a laptop, that is not so fast, but you can still use your internet on it. That's my advice. You could do exactly what you feel for. Regards oliver
