I think that as long as you enjoy it and no one is against it why not. I enjoy taking photos of things being built and renovated. It is always fun seeing the before and after. I enjoy seeing old pictures of the city where I live and trying to see what has stayed the same and what has change. This is a hobby like any other. You may be lucky and the local library may accept your photos to be placed in an archive of how the city changed. Here the local library accepts donations of old photos and scans them onto a computer for historians to study, some are quite old. Have fun.

I think it was a different idea but not impressive...But now a days many people are becoming famous due to their different thoughts and their implementation as per situation.I think u will be one of them. All the best dude..
