I have seen more than twice a man who had an accident on a motorcycle. It was terrifying. It seems that the high risk and prone to accident is the motorcycle. Even mom does not want a motorcycle in our house when my elder brother bought it. Why is it the most risk and prone to accident is always on motorcycle than driving a car? Or is it just the same? -- but it seems that motorcycle is more prone to accident than driving a car.

motorcycle is more prone than car because in motorcycle you need to balance it and even though you have your helmet its just no mean that your body is safe , in a car you may put a airbag . so if you choose to buy a vehicle just buy a car its more safer that a motorcycle .

since it has only two wheels while on steady driving straight, you are unaware that suddenly a chicken or pig crosses at your road path and about to hit that animal, it's a basic reaction of reflexes that you instantly alters your steer to the opposite side and that is one of the reason why you and your motorcycle out of balanced, bad if the speed is traveling fast....

I have seen a lot of motorcycle accidents in my place.Since our roads are all conjested with cars and bikes and auto rickshaws accidents are a day to day affair. It is true that motorcycles can easily get into accident than a car.So it is always better to wear a helmet and protect oneself if an accident occurs.

I believe that accidents will happen upon reckless driving, violations, and driving without permission. So still driving safely is in the hands of the driver. And I also notice that rough roads are some of the factors of vehicular accident. There should always be a monitor standing by and watching over the vehicles on the road. And that we should always observe proper driving.
God bless everyone! :)

Yes, i agree.. motorcycle is prone to accidents than cars but everything still boils down to responsible driving.. So I always believe that accidents can be avoided as long as we are responsible enough in driving our wheels and make sure we are not driving fast and not drunk.

Apart from it just only have a two wheels and you need a balancing skills ,the rider is given less or no protection from crashes unlike in the other vehicles where there are airbags and seat belts. Any small glitch can cause a person life as motorcycles are not as sturdy and as stable as other vehicles, and riding in a tandem on a motorcycle is also risky, even a small movements mad while riding a motorcycle is dangerous as the rider can lose his control it.

i myself had a crash on my motor bike. it was a brand new bike so i was just takin it easy, wen BANG! theres a car pulling out of a junction. i hit the side of the car. the trouble with bikes is the car driver. sorry drivers but its true. apart from the protection factor in riding a bike to driving a car with steel around you for protection, a biker has nothing but the safety clothes.most road accidents are caused by peaple not paying attention to ther road and other road users. bikes are also very powerfull and alot of younger riders i hurt or worse simply by not understanding the power of their bike, ie. taking corners too fast, or pulling away too quick, or even something a simple as a slide, if you dont know how to handle a powerful bike wen it slides then you are gona hit the floor. my advice to any1 who owns or is thinking of owning a bike is "never take anything for granted, that car at the junction cant see you, the car thats indicating to go left, will probably go right. when your stuck in traffic on the motorway and you want to shoot up the middle of traffic, forget it, there is always one driver that will pull across lanes coz they think they gona get home befor all the rest of us. there are only 2 reasons that i am alive today. 1. the grace of god. 2 where i crashed was 200 yards from the ambulance station. take extra care out there bikers!!

I personally think that motorcycles are really the most dangerous vehicle on the streets. Whenever I watch the news there's always a motorcycle accident on it not just one but several accidents. I myself have had an accident while riding a motorcycle with my husband. Since then I never want to ride a motorcycle ever again. I was so scared that time and i was on the back ride and I got the most bruises and wounds. those motorcycles are really dangerous.

Its very risky then.
Motorcycles don't have sides to protect us whenever we met an accident.
Unlike with a car that we are secured, unless it is terrible accident no one is spared then.
I also do not like having a motorcycle.
Last year I sold my son's motorbike for fear of accident and he is to young too.
have a good day

I think that you have gotten some really good answers here already. I can add that accidents on motorcycles might not be more in number (I suspect that there are far more car accidents per year than motorcycle accidents), but they are noticed more because they often result in worse injuries than car accidents. A car can be involved in a low impact crash, and the car will take the damage while most times the driver is uninjured. In a similar collision with a motorcycle, there is not anything protecting the driver of the motorcycle, so that person will be more likely to be injured, even from a slow (low impact) collision.

I notice that motorcycles are prone to danger because riders get too careless while riding them and zig zagging in and out of traffic. In addition to this the roads are extra slippery when wet. Since these bikes are small some vehicles do not notice them so they tend to crash on them especially when they are making a u-turn. I am thankful for the start of those who managed the traffic to schedule a road lane where they can use to avoid accidents but this shall be exclusively for them to be effective but it seems some bigger vehicles are allowed in the motorbike lanes.

hi introvertshy i can say that a motor cycle is really dangerous why? because it is really high risk because it is small and fast and also i have many cousin experience accident in motor and it is much more risky and the accident that you can get is more serious rather than the other accident.

I think most of it has to do with being seen; a car occupies a larger space and is easier to see. When we look in mirrors to see if a lane is clear we are expecting to see a large piece of metal in that mirror. And if what one expects to see becomes what they did see, in the case of the motorcycle, it's missed because it's small. Can you remember all of the cars on the road in the dark? Probably not, but you notice the one that forgot to turn their lights on. We get used to seeing cars, but not bikes.
Also road hazards that would not affect a car much can have a detrimental effect on a motorcycle. Take gravel for example; a small bit that has been deposited by say a leaking dump truck would have very little if any affect on a car that is turning. However the sudden loss of traction in a turn can spill a motorcycle. Striking a road imperfection at speed can imbalance a motorcycle as well.
So I would say that a motorcycle is inherently more dangerous on the road when compared to a car.

It is really danger to ride motorcycle on the street with so many car, especially during the rush hour. It is pretty hard to avoid touch other cars. The main problem for motorcycle because it does not provide enough protection than a car. Car would provide you a full protection with metal, not for the motorcycle. In motorcycle, your flesh covers the motorcycle and that is why it would cause so serious injure in car accident. The impact from crash can not be adsorbed by the metal but flesh. So, it is not surprised why everyone prefers driving than riding. It is just not safe.

It is obvious that driving a motorcycle is more driving than driving a car.If a car driver, Think of it....If a car driver just touch an obstacle with high velocity,he probably will not get either a contusion. If a motorcyclist do the same, it is very likely to have a serious injury....... According to a survey (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) I read, motorcyclists are about 18 times as likely auto occupants to die in a motorcycle accident and about three times to be injured
