Hi there fellow MYLOTTERS..
A 20 year long study undertaken in the United States, with a participating 50,000 men found that by drinking 1-3 cups of coffee a day lowered the risk of prostate cancer by a amazing 30%!
THE REASON WHY...Well from what has been discovered it is due to the anti oxidants and plant chemicals *rather than the caffeine* that makes this liquid beverage a type of preventative.. which means DECAFF works just as effectively!!!
Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer amongst UK men.. with a whopping 37,000 cases and 10,000 deaths each year!!!
So come on men, GET DRINKING SOME COFFEE!!!!
Interesting stuff huh?...

My brother is a coffee drinker, but he still got prostate cancer. He had to have those radio active beads put into him to get rid of the cancer. He is cancer free now.

Being a coffee drinker doesn't mean that you are not in the risk of cancer anymore. Maybe he had some vices like drinking and smoking and so much more.

I just love coffee. The problem is, I was hit with anxiety disorder, and I found out that whenever I drink coffee, my anxiety disorder attacks. Well, that is for me. I hope the same would not be for the others.

Hi globaldoc..
That doesnt sound good :( however.. I just thought, is there are certain ingredient in coffee that sets you attacks off?.. Maybe if you found out- you could buy a 'coffee substitute' and still have the best of both worlds :)
All the best to you, and Thanks for your response.. (",)

Hi vivamir, I've heard about this recently but am happy that you decided to start a discussion about it. The more people hear about this the better because it's very important. A question for you. Do you know if the coffee has to be taken black? Adding cream and sugar may change things and I believe that this is something that we need to know. Blessings.

Hi Pose123..
Nice to meet you, and Its my pleasure to post such a discussion that will get people a little more intrigued about this idea of coffee having such a positive effect..
However as far as my own research goes, you can have the coffee how you wish- as it is the antioxidants in the coffee that aid with the prevention of the cancer.. if I find that this is indifferent I shall most certainly be posting as soon as I know.. but for now my friend- Enjoy your coffee as you wish.. Many blessings to you..(",)
Thanks for your response..

Well, I'm not a man, but I sure do like my coffee. I drink a pot before I go to work and sometimes I drink it at work. I also like it strong. My husband just doctors his up. As for the caffeine affect, it does nothing to me. Best Wishes!

Hi sswallace21...
I love my coffee too.. I always choose this over a cup of tea any day or any time some one offers me a hot beverage LOL.. although I must say.. the caffeine does not affect me in that particular way either, If anything its more of a relaxant- as I can drink it just before I go sleep, and Im just fine..
On the other hand I know a few people *like my sister* who ends up running around or babbling til the effects wear off *HA HA*..
All the best to you, and Thanks for your response.. (",)

Indeed coffee is rich of anti-oxidants that prevents us from aging and cancer, in other hand too much coffee will make you nervous because of it's high caffeine content so coffee will be effective if you will drink it with moderation.

You are right. Coffee can be a preventative cure for cancer because coffee contains antioxidants that binds to the free radical proteins. Free radical proteins can be harmful to our body in the long run. That is why coffee is really advisable to drink at least 2-3 times a day. Have a nice warm cup of coffee my friend.

Not that I have any worries with this kind of cancer, I have heard coffee is also good to help prevent diabetes, which runs in my family. Though I am not quite sure if the coffee must be black, no sugar or cream, but it doesn't matter now, I have learned to enjoy and even prefer it black..

Hi carmelanirel..
Ive never heard of that logic.. but hey I must say that I was surprised when I read that Scientists reckon coffee can be a preventative cure for cancer..
So who knows.. and from 3honors source- this sounds to be quite plausible.. I will continue with my research and will hope to find that coffee can aid with diabetes sufferers..
Thanks for your response..(",)

A really long years of research. I hope these scientific studies, maybe done by some medical practitioners really have monitored all those who have participated in the said experimentation.
I knew coffee like tea had Antioxidants that may protect cells from the damage caused by unstable molecules known as free radicals. This is good news to coffee drinkers especially men.

Hi stanley777..
I was thinking the same, it was a long term research study, but it was on e of those articles that caught my eye, and basically from having a recent personal experience *not my own*.. with this nasty illness, I just wanted to see what my fellow MYLOTTERS reaction would be to this particular study..
I do believe that coffee has beneficial effects.. as Im constantly drinking the stuff LOL.. I do not find it addictive- as with anything else we consume..needs to be in moderation!..
Thanks for your response..(",)

Interesting indeed with a twist. Coffee make the list of addicted types of food and drink. Still there are other factors that need to be taken into account. There are different individuals amont 50,000 participants. It would be interested to know more details about these participants, what criteria or kinds of measurement, etc.

1-3 cups a day, you say. If it becomes 4, you become a caffeine addict, my doctor told me.
I agree, 20 years is a long time, how could they have controlled 50,000 men to drink 1-3 cups a day? Also, if antioxidants were the solution, they should've tested tea as well. But that would take another 20 years, I think.

Hi modeofevasion..
I dont agree that 4 cups can make you an addict, I mean I think there have been days where I have easily consumed about 8/9 cups.. and have been just fine..LOL
So I suppose that ideology is the same as this discussion, that it 'can or cant' kind of thing..
And I think your right..if it took 20 years for them to test coffee- how long would they have took to test for tea! Ah ha.. And I must say the article I read was not very detailed, the hypothesis and all that was not fully detailed, but this is why I thought this topic would make a great discussion..
Thanks for your response..(",)
