Do you currently have or have you had a pet in the past? How did you come up with its name? My dog is named Spiffy. He got that name from my teenage son. The phrase, "That's so spiff!" was going around his school. So, he was saying that all the time when we got our dog. We thought the name Spiffy was pretty cute. Now, I couldn't imagine our dog being called anything else.

Spiffy is the cutest name I've ever heard :D I love animals, I had a lot of fish and two budgies in the past 15 years and now I have a cat he is very funny :) But having a pet can be difficult sometimes especially when they are ill.

Thanks! He is really cute too. I love having pets, but I always fear the day they die. They are such an important part of the family.

We have two dogs and a cat. Our first dog is named Zeus. He is a yellow lab and he's huge, so we thought the name would fit. Our next dog is a chocolate lab. She came out of the next litter from the dogs that we got our first one from. We wanted a name to go with Zeus. We were trying to think of another greek god name but couldn't find any female ones we liked so we figured we'd go with another "Z" name. We all liked Zoey. Our cat is named Milo. My daughter named him. She loves a movie called Milo and Otis about a cat and dog that are friends so that is where she got the name from.

Those are really cool names. My dog is so tiny, but if I had a big dog, I would love to call it Zeus. I remember the movie Milo and Otis. That was a great movie.

We usually give our pets a name...usually based on their personality or the way they look and then shortly after, I end up giving them a nickname that they answer too also. One example is our little Tubs....I now call him tubble bubble..LOL..he likes it as much as Tubs.

I had a lot of animals, all kinds of. Now I only have ferrets, a barn owl and a cat. Most ferrets have celtic names and my barn owl is named after one of the rune-stones.

That is so interesting that you would name your pets with celtic names. That is a great idea. I had never thought of that.

We have 7 dogs - all Papillons Pepe - my wife saw him in a pet shop owned by friends of hers and she would say she was going to see the puppy , which became the papi puppy and as Papillons are also known as a Continental Toy Spaniel and Spaon is in the continent of Europe it was an easy transition to Pepe which of course is Spanish Malibu - she was a rescue dog and she already had the name Marita - keeps the Spanish name and as we were going to breed it was also easy to decide on a M name as it's the same a mother Mandi - as above Hope - she was one of Malibu's puppies and she got really sick and when we got her to the vets everyone was hoping she was going to make it - she's our oldest son's dog now Toby - my wife always wanted a dog called Toby Rosie - one of Mandi's puppys - our other son wanted his own dog and he liked Poppy or Rosie - Poppy sounded too much like Pepe We also have 3 cats Nala - liked the The Lion KIng KC - my wife's name is Kirsty - so Kirsty's cat Simba - if we had Nala we had to have Simba If we have another male cat - Mufasa perhaps ?

Sounds like you have your hands full! I would love to have so many pets, but we just don't have the money! Mufasa would be a great name for a cat! Thanks for sharing!

Our dogs name is Roxy because one our cousin name her that. I think she just likes naming pets that she chose that name for our dog. She said that she looks like a dog that would be called Roxy. It is a pitbul and obviously it is a girl and she just went through several names for that name. She has named a lot of our other dogs in the past that we used to own.

Yes, I currently have pets (3 birds and a fish). I've also had pets in the past. There's almost never been a time that I wasn't without a pet. As far as their names go, I usually go by their color or look. I've even named some after characters in a movie. For example, I've had a hamster named Buttercup, because she reminded me of one. I've had another hamster named Feisty, because she looked like a Feisty to me. I had a dog named Penny because her color was like a copper penny. I had a couple of rabbits named Sniff and Sniffles, well, because rabbits wiggle their noses a lot and they look like they are constantly sniffing. I've even had a couple of birds names Nemo and Dory before. LOL I've had other pets as well, but I think you get the idea. Happy mylotting!

I have had several dogs in my life time. Most of them German Shepherds or some sort of mixed breed of German Sheperd. The first dog I ever had was named Robin and she was a poodle. Not sure why the dog was named that as one of my sisters has the same name. Robin was a great sweet dog, then we got Gretchen who was a German Shepherd and that dog loved me so much. I also had a cat named Trixie that was at least 21 years old possibly older, as long as I could remember we had that cat. Then afer I got married we had one dog who was a shepherd mix and now we have a shepherd (full blooded). We also took in a stray cat who was really old and had him for a couple of years, my son who was like 2 at the time just called him Kitty Kitty and he responded so we just kept calling him that.

I had a dog throughout my childhood and into my teenage years. Sadly she got sick and we had to put her to sleep. She did live a good long life by dog standards too, but it still doesn't make it any less sad to see a pet, who is a good as a member of your family then people in your family. In fact more so than some but that is another matter than another time. I think that for the foreseeable future, I don't want any more pets. Not to say that couldn't change in a couple of years, but really, not right now. It is hard to let them go when their time comes as well, especially when you half expect them to be lying right next to your bed and the sadness that you're going to potentially feel when they are gone.

I named my dog after a polar bear from a National Geographic documentary. I like that name from the first time I heard it and I said to myself that my next dog will have this name. My dog's name is Binne. The funny part is that in my native language "bine" (with only one "n") means OK, well, good, all right. So you can imagine how it is to call your dog like this: everybody looks at you as if you were a freak.

I have had a few pets but i have only had to name the one the others have either been from rescue centers or from friends who could no longer care for them.Because of this they had already got a name. The only pet i have named is my tortoise i named her Kathryn after Kathryn Janeway the captain from star trek voyager.Mainly because i am a massive nerd and couldnt think of another girls name.

Yes I have had pets, mostly dogs n cats. At the moment my daughter that I live with has 7 cats in the house and more outside that are strays they take care of. I have a small dog, his name is Jeffery, his name came from the previous owner and I stayed with it. How many dogs do you know that has that name? Exactly... All the cats have names and I actually know them all.. took awhile.. Many of the names they chose are from Anime characters. The names fit each one of them.. amazing..
