HI everyone! I am curious as to how do you handle your weekly meals? Do you make out menues? And if you do how often for the week, biweekly or monthly? Do you create this menue to cover all meals and snacks? breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the day. And do you have your family pick a day or so. Make choices on main dishes or snacks?

In my case, because I'm still new to being a wife, it's really tiring sometimes to think about the menu for the day. I wish that I have a helper who can help me with this task so that I won't be stressed thinking about it. Although my husband is not choosy with food and he can eat anything what I prepare for him yet it's still a long way to go for me to be used to planning our menu for a day and for the whole week! LOL! I think, this is really something for me to learn thoroughly at this point of time.

Yeah that is a tough thing to do to start out, There are good sites on that will help you set menus up and even help to create the shopping lists.

No I don't. I cook what pops up in my head (or if I read a recipe). I don't cook if I am too tired.
I don't have breakfast but my kids do.
They have lunch at school. So only at the end of the day we eat together.
We seldom snack but if I will make a dinner that is less or kind of snacks that can replace the dinner.
I mostly pick the out the kind of food I cook but I do change it if one of the kids doesn't like it that much for one or two of them.

You sound about like me lately. I used to be so organized with meal time and menus. But these days its more difficult to follow this. Its easier to just look up and see something that sounds like it might be good for diner that day.

No, I don't make out menus. I find it hard if I make out menus. Because sometimes, I don't feel like eating what's on the menu So I just think of the meal I'm going to cook five hours before I cook. Or I will ask my family what they want to eat for that day. It's better and easier.

I know, we have to do whats best for us at the time. And dinner time can be crazy! Its one of the most difficult times of the day. So making that time a little easier.

No, definitely no...I live with my wife and until now , she is cooking todays or followings day meals...She cooks a standard portion of food , enoygh for 2 or 3 days meals...We can separate it and eat it in a weeks period, so with 3-4 cooked meals per week and snacks or salads for the rest , we cover all the week period

Well that is a great system for you guys. I think that it will be like this when my children grow up and get out of the house. Then it will be just us and much easier to cook for two instead of 6!

My husband gets paid every two weeks, so we do our grocery shopping two weeks at a time. I sit down and plan a meal for each day of the week. I try to use ingredients I have on hand so I don't have to get as much. We use our favorite recipes and sometimes try a new one. Everyone in the family pitches in what they want for meals and the kids pick what they want for snacks at school and after school.

That sounds like you have a great system for a successful mealtime. Getting your children involved in the preparation helps in so many directions. From nutritious meal choices to budgeting. And just enjoying food!

No, i don't have list or menu for the whole week.
But I make sure to have different menus/dish everyday.
Snacks is not usually in the list since I want my kids to have a full meal than having snacks in between,it only spoils their appetite.
Have a good day

Thats always good to check and be sure that you have everything that you need for preparing meals. I understand about the snack thing. I run a daycare and so I have to provide snacks at certain times of the day so its just become one of our habits. I do however limit the amount that they eat before dinner. Just to be certain that they have all the nutrients they need. Thanks for sharing!

I always admire people who can be so organized and plan in advance. I usually decide the night before or the day of...When I go to the grocery store I think what meals I want and buy all I need for them, but I am not so organized to make a written list of meals. People with very heavy schedules do this just to survive, I think

I wish I could have the time to create menus, but it's not easy to buy the fresh ingredientes everyday. Also, I don't make much plans, because I don't know what I will want to eat in a certain day. But, I think that would be the best way to organize the meals.

It does make things so much easier when the meals are already planned. But it does take away from the fun and spontaneous value from eating what your taste buds are telling you they want.
