Where you live how do people show respect to the dead? Well here in the US everyone has there own of respecting the dead. In my family when I was growing up the way you show respect for them is like a lot of people you give them a funeral, or you burn there body. But we lay that person to rest on holy ground in a cemetery. We also show respect for them by showing up to the funeral and listening respectfully to the people talking or singing. You don't play with things unless your really little. Then there will be a wake most of the time which is normally a meal with friends or family sharing your lost with them. You try to remember that person the way they where when they where a live. Also in my family if you admire them a lot you will some how incorporate there name first or middle name into your own child's first or middle name. How about you?

I live in the Philippines and we do the same like what you've written. Except that the wake is done in our own house and in a 24/7 viewing period.
