When you stated "Working from home", I hope you already realized that you said the word "working" - it means you need to give your best efforts and if needed, you have to learn something new. There's no easy money.
If you want to earn serious money, then you have to do serious job.
Now, like peavey said above:
"What kind of online job can you or do you want to do?"
There's no kind of serious job that works for everyone.
Several people earn good money from writing article. But if you can't make an article with good enough spelling and grammar, it would be hard for you to follow their success.
Several people earn good money from their programming and designing skills. Of course, it's hard for you to follow their success if you can't programming at all..
Now, again, just tell us,
"What kind of online job can you or do you want to do?"

Hi TonyBenitez, most websites that allow you to make enough from home are opened only to residents of US.
Since you are from US, you can check out Demand Studios and Textbroker.
Both websites pay relatively well for writers with a reasonably good command of English.
It is hard work, but making more than $500 a month is possible.

Hi Scheng, good to see you are here again. Seems like, those 2 sites only accept members from US to work for them. By the way, do you know any better paying site for we Asian members to earn through online? i had tried but haven't found any nice site to earn.

I just have the time to gone through the responded section and found your reply. It is good to hear Asian have the chance to earn through Helium. But from what i heard from others, Helium is very strict and particular regarding grammar. That's why, until now i haven't join and earn from it. Have you join this site yet, Scheng?

I know there are places to sell or rent photos if they're good enough, but I don't know much about them. If you can write, you can make money. Just look through some of the posts under the "writing" interest. There are several sites that pay for content. They're all a little different; some pay better than others, but if you can write, you can make money with them.

Hi Tony, i had been working from home through online since a few years ago. For me, i don't really able to earn well through online since majorities of the sites that i discovered are mainly for US members. Until now, i am still looking for more legit paying sites that pays well to Asian members. That's why, whenever i wants to earn more from home, i will helps my friends and relatives to do some offline jobs, to earn some extra income. I can't depends fully on earning through online.

Hi Myfb, for international writers, the best is still Helium.
Some titles offer $1 upfront payment plus passive revenue.
If you are good enough, you can also get high paying Marketplace assignment.
The passive income is rather good.
I have only 300 articles there, and I still earn about $20 from there every month.
I have not written a single article for more than a year.
The writing standard is high, and Helium specifically states that they want only magazine style articles.
If someone buys your content for publishing in their offline or online site, you can gain an extra $5, known as stock content bonus.
Your content still remains in Helium to earn for you.

Hi Tony
It really depends on what kind of work that you are interested in. But it's always not easy to earn online as you really need lots of hard work and need to spend lots of time on it to earn a decent amount of money. Are you up to it? I think I did send you a PM on one site that I am working on. Maybe you can try checking it out.
Besides working online, you can always start your own home based business and there are many types of home based business that you can do, but you need to work hard on it as well.

I'm doing it, in a way. I'm a carer for a family member, so my online work's only part-time but I rarely earn less than $500 a month (though I haven't quite broken the $1k mark in a month yet) and have a book coming out in a few weeks (I hope!). I'm a freelance writer and editor. I don't have a "proper" offline job, although looking after someone full-time is obviously a job and very proper.
How did I do it? Persistence. I spent about a month discovering that the majority of offers are scams (and learning how to avoid them) and figuring out what I wanted to do. I wrote the beginner's guide (in my profile) so other people wouldn't have to go through the same things I did. Then I spent another month writing for rev share sites while I bid on freelance jobs on the bidding sites.
It takes time but, almost three years later, I have regular clients, get paid a decent wage and enjoy what I do.
You mentioned your interests are data entry, surveying, editing and blogging. Here's my opinion/experience of those:
Data entry: pays the worst because it requires little skill. It's nice and easy but the money sucks. Plenty of work on the bidding sites: AVOID specialist sites because 99% of them are scams.
Surveys: you're US-based so there should be some good ones around. Always check the Survey Police site for an opinion.
Editing: in what sense? If you mean words rather than video or music, there's a lot of work out there and it can pay well.
Blogging: very much a long-term prospect. Virtually no blogs make money in their first six months and you need to choose your niche very carefully or you'll be lost in the masses. In the long term, this can be a VERY nice money-maker (talk to Scarface2010 - he does this and does it well).
Hope it helps. If you have questions, just ask: happy to help if I can!
data entry, surveying, editing, blogging.

If your looking for an easy way to earn online, there isn't any.
Don't believe the hype of ANY site that says differently.
Just like offline, online you have to do the work in order to earn
a living online. To do it well you need a skill, craft or service
you can offer to get started.
I hope you have success..

Making money online is never always reliable. It is filled with ups and down. So time you make some money and you are happy, sometimes, it is the opposite, you could hardly make a cent. other time you fall a victim to the activities of internet fraudsters. It is a long story to tell if you want me to tell you about my own personal experience.
i think the best way to make money in todays world is to use the combine-all-formula. What I really mean is that you should maintain a reasonable online presence doing something that is workable and also combine it with a reliable offline work in a company or you should own a business in the town or city centre which is equally bringing in some substancial amount of money.
I do not want you to rely too much on online business since it is not too reliable. You need to combine the too.
I am engage in forex trading ( international trading of global currencies ) I combine this online job with a reliable office job. As soon as I close from work, I drive home to start my own online job.

I know some people who make online jobs as their way to earn an income. They only depend to the different sites that surely gives money. They usually share whatever sites they have known that are legit. For you to be successful in this kind of work, you first need to be a wide reader. Read a lot about the sites you are in. You need to assess first if it is a legit or a scam. I do not have actually a lot of experience about working online. All I have is that one tip I know best. I hope I have contributed to your post. Be hardworking and patient friend.

hello Tony,
I know it's very tempting to work at home. But for me, there are just some things I like working with real employer. Since you will be working in the office, you will always try to make yourself look presentable! :) Not to mention the opportunities to meet new friends and the active interaction with your team mates. Staying at home makes you feel so bored! for online jobs, I prefer to have it as a sideline only.
Another thing is, I come from Philippines where medical services is so expensive. My company's insurance coverage includes me and my direct dependents. In my case, it really doesn't make any sense if I will give up my job for work-at-home's. So I only do my online jobs during my free time at night :)
