October 11, 2011 - is it really my day or not?

October 11, 1979 - the day that my mother gave birth to me. Yesterday was my 32nd birthday, to be exact. But what made it more complicated was that on my birth certificate, we found out that the date stated there was not October 11, 1979 but it was DECEMBER 11, 1979! Clerical error they say, but has caused an ultimate changes of my life! We never tried to change it anyway, since it will take sometime plus we don't have enough money to pay for the lawyer and everything. I have no choice but to settle on December 11 ;-(..... For records purposes, I put December 11, 1979 as my birth date.
But how I love to celebrate October 11 as my official birthday! I've been celebrating Oct 11 as my birthday for 22 years already. so sad :-(... In the office, I could not take my birthday leave on Oct 11, because December 11 should be followed since it's in the document. ;-(
My friends got confused on this matter. My husband send me off to the Office yesterday but he never mentioned anything nor greeted me! We usually kissed goodbye before he leaves for the Office but nothing's unusual. HE FORGOT! That really hurts! So I sent him a text reminding him! huhuhuhuhu..... What a day to celebrate!
But despite of all, am still thankful to God for giving me good health and another year to celebrate. It's still good to celebrate after all ;-)

You are such a lucky fellow having two birth dates! But kidding aside, sometimes people's mistake take toll on us and we can't do anything about it or if there's some way to correct it, we have to pay handsomely for it which is unfair! But why not treat it as your lucky charm, after all not all can have two birth dates!

Lucky if I'll get birthday greetings twice a year, and gifts too! But I don't think I would still consider it lucky if my age doubled every year!? ;-D
Yeah, we really have to pay some if we change it. And yes, am trying to settle for what is best now.
Thank you for dropping by my friend. ;-)

Happy Birthday to you!, I know how sad it is when your loved one forgot to greet you on your birthday. I just want to share the story of my older sister & brother, my sister is a year older than my brother but due to lack of money or some problems occur suggest that they should be make twins, I am really not sure if it's in birth certificate or Baptismal Certificate. It is indeed very hard to fix national documents, you will have to undergo a lot of process and pay so many fees just to fix that paper.

Oh am sorry to hear about your older sister and brother. I hope they never encountered any problem with that. But as long as they have known from the very start about the real situation, I guess the concern won't be that much.
Thank you for your greetings my friend. I really appreciate it. You know am just new at mylot, and this is my first time receiving birthday greetings from my mylot friends.
Thank you really. Happy mylotting ;-)

Your welcome, everyone is entitled to receive greeting on his/her birthday. Anyway, about the problem of my siblings I don't think they had problems with that, they have their own families now so that wasn't pretty much of a problem to them.

Thanks for your answer my friend, sorry it took time for me to get back online, got so tied up for the past days.
Well, good to know that your siblings did not encounter any problem with their personal and legal records. When I gave birth to my child my husband really did his best in reviewing my son's live birth certificate in the hospital, he read it "million times"! hahahaha... just to make sure every data is correct! ;-)

I'm not sure as to how much. Am in Mindanao, I guess the same law and procedure applies anywhere in the Philippines.
The fee and not to mention the hassles during the process. The effort and time that I have to spend in it. Well, I guess am being lazy now or maybe because i already made up my mind to settle on December plus the fact that what is stated in my birth certificate has been followed already in all of my legal documents.
Thanks for sharing your views my friend. ;-)

that's administrative error that was very stifling ... you should immediately submit changes your birth certificate to court. To take care of changing the birth certificate does not have to use the services of a lawyer, but indeed keep required a fee but that's comparable with what you would get, at least you can still be confident that actually 11th of October is the date of your birthday ....
but, whatever your consideration, I still say ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... may God always bless your life and whatever is became your effort hopefully will always making happiness for you

The discrepancy was found out 12 years ago ;-(... That was when our college registrar asked all the graduating students to submit our authenticated birth certificate.
We decided not to change it since here in our country it will undergo a lot of process, it also requires fee and your name will still be published in the local news paper, that's another fee i think. Not to mention the total amount of time, given that we are already beating the deadline of our school when we discovered that discrepancy. But am really trying to deal with it now, its just that I feel sad every time those people close to my heart forgets. ;-I
Thank you for your greetings my friend. I really appreciate it. God bless you too and may your wishes for me rebound to you a thousand fold.

In cases like this, it is best to follow what's on our birth certificate, since it is already the legal document recorded. Anyway, for the sake of having the true birthdate, you can still celebrate it on the former date.
As to the other date, you can just let it pass, but then avail of the birthday leave on that date.
