What is your feeling about Taiwan's national birthday ?

I know that the history of Taiwan is very complex for many people. Taiwan never have that real country identity before and now. Its situation is even worst than Palestine in worldwide. Although Palestine is not actually recognized by the U.N., it has been already accepted as observer in U.N. But not for Taiwan, Taiwan can not even show its flag in Olympic. My friend though it is one of districts in China. Yet, it seems so confused for most people. Now, they are going to celebrate their 100 national birthday. I don't know that how Taiwanese to see this event ? I, as an American, are really confused by those things. I just can't understand why don't they change their name as Republic of Taiwan or something like that...It is really weird for a foreigner when they step down the earth of Taiwan and see the name of nation is called China. But actually, anything is not like China. What's about your opinion ? Anyone who have been Taiwan is welcomed to discuss ? I am early to seek your opinion !

There is no way China is going to let Taiwan be a country and that to me is unfair. China was defeated by Taiwan 100 yrs ago. China should just swallow its pride but being a bigger country it's impossible. Sad to say Taiwan has also become dependent on China when it comes to labor as most countries worldwide. It's "Made in China" everywhere. China holds everyone in its finger. I lived in Taiwan for 12 yrs and I like it there. I'm happy that they've just celebrated their 100th foundation day but I'm sad to imagine that could have just China laughed it off.

China has a strangle hold on Taiwan. They will not let them be an independent Nation. Just like Tibet, china wants to keep these territories for their own profit. Many times Taiwan has tried to break away from china. Each time china threatens them with annihilation if they do. That is the reason they do not have Nationhood status. No one will help them because china has gotten too powerful and everyone is afraid of what will happen.
