Did having a premature baby leave you feeling unfinished?

My waters broke at 29 weeks and I spent four and a half weeks in hospital until I had my baby at 33 and a half weeks. I couldn't work out what was wrong with me for a while but my social worker helped me. I had a feeling of not completing my pregnancy. I didn't get big until I was locked away in hospital, and I didn't get to nest or get the nursery ready. Then I had to visit my baby in hospital for nearly four weeks until they would let me take her home. It left me shell shocked. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

hy, mom ... you're great. You've been through and are taking steps as a mother even though your baby are born premature, but that's still your baby it was mean still your child. Do not ever felt as a deficiency, may God wanted you to quickly holding a baby

thank you for this. I do get the impression that my daughter is in a rush to get somewhere. She seems to resent being a baby. Wants to do everything quickly. It is sooo great being a mother. I just kind of feel like I missed out on something by not going to term. Thank you for your kind words.

I know a lady and she was out shopping in Bristol at 34 weeks pregnancy. She went into labor and had her baby son born in the hospital. Amazingly he was well enough to go home 2 days later. Her partner had to go home and get their house ready for their early arrived little baby boy.
I found out my son has spina bifida and hydrocephalus at 36 weeks pregnancy which was a shock. He was born at home at 39 weeks pregnancy and then went off to the special care baby unit for 3 weeks. He had 2 operations and so these were very scary. It was a horrible feeling of being at home and having my baby son in a hospital more than 20 miles away. I went to visit him once a day. One Saturday I just needed a day off so I had a day visit to Weymouth.

Hi, that's really sad about your son. I hope he is ok now. Yes I did the daily visit while my daughter was in hospital. It is heart wrenching leaving them at the end of the day. Luckily there was nothing wrong with my daughter. She just needed to be tube feed for a couple of weeks because she was too weak to suckle. Your friend was very lucky to be able to take bub home so quickly. How is your son now?
