Can addictive online gaming ruin a marriage or is it in your opinon, frivolous to allow such a thing to destroy a marriage? If so, how does one intervene...other than throwing the CPU into a pool of water.

Look at yor topic I will say yes and to avoid that you can try to allocate some times for onlie gaming and be self discipline .Thats no need to trow away your system if you can do it.

I think it can. If your spouse spends 80+ hours on the computer and no time with you, that is a divorce waiting to happen. The first approach should be to talk to your spouse about the amount of time they spend on the computer as they may not see anything wrong with what they are doing. Ask them to cut back their time and spend more time with your or you can start playing the game online together so that you have a common interest. Find things outside of the gaming world that you can do together on a regular basis - like take up a sport together or find a common interest that you can do. Schedule a date night once a week. Computers are a great thing, but if you do not have a strong marriage that includes communication a computer can ruin your marriage very easily because a computer gives a persona place they can hide form everything and not worry about possible problems. You need to work on communicating better so that you or your spouse does not feel put off by a computer.

Yes it can. i work with two people that were engaged and were together for 5 years. They were suppose to get married next year and they just broke it off last month. He had a huge problem with online gambling and casinos. He used her checkbook credit cards etc... She tried to tell him to quit but he didn't. i don't think he can quit

Addictive online gaming can certainly ruin a marriage. The people involved should communicate and discuss this problem. If necessary, they should seek professional help.

Yes gambling online or not can become an addiction. If that person spends money you need for paying the bills for example and all their time gambling then it becomes neglect.
