A few months ago i saw a stray dog near my home which wags its tail at everyone who pass by the street. It is an aboriginal indian dog but i guess it is definitely domesticated seeing the way it is interacting with people.I talked to it and it started walking along with me..Then every night i tried to give it food but it was not eating anything at all.Whenever it sees me it started running after me even when i am on my motorcycle!I really wanted to adopt it but my parents are dog haters and they wouldnt allow me to adopt a second dog. That dog used to lie down in front of a shop and it suddenly disappeared a few days ago.I searched for it everywhere but couldnt find it.Then i asked that shopkeeper about it and he said it was someone's pet and it lost its way and the owners found it when they passed by that way and took it back home. I wonder how can a dog lose its way to home as my dog has never forgot the way when i used to let him go to the street.

I don't know what happened for real but I imagine the poor dog was not too happy at home that she didn't want to go back there. I don't think a dog could ever lose the way home because, unless it is taken away from home with a car, by train or by plane.
I rather think her owner mistreated her and she preferred to live on streets where many people were friendly (like you were) and didn't abuse her.

I dont think a dog would leave its home because its owner was cruel to it.A friend of mine beats his dog real bad but still it didn't go away anywhere when he lets it go out.It is a sad thing that dogs let their owners abuse them and then wags its tail at the owner who abuses it.If it had taken revenge on the owner then people wouldn't abuse it the way they do.

A dog has more chance of getting abused in the street than at home. The dog doesn't look abused ,i mean physically. If it was abused mentally then the dog would have been very scared to go near people.I feed stray dogs and spend time with them, so i can tell how a dog would behave when it was abused.

The dog may have traveled further for it to find its way home. That can happen. Could of also been a prank someone pulled on the owners.. Took the dog and dropped it off away from its home..
Just happy that the dog was able to find its owners. I hope they keep a better watch over him so he doesn't get away again..

I dont think anyone would have dropped it far away from home because generally aboriginal dogs are considered low class dogs so no one would do that. Also what concerned me more was that it is a female dog ,so i didnt want to see her wandering it in the streets.

What difference would it make if it was male or female, I would of done the same as to protect it. That just sounds funny, "lower class dogs" sounds like everything there is classed, how sad..

The difference i meant was that female dog might get pregnant and give birth to unwanted puppies..95% of dog owners in india don't sterilize their dog.I know a lot of people who throw away their female dog's puppies in the street garbage..and many people dont even know what sterilization is.
I dont consider them as low class dogs but people generally see aboriginal dogs as very low class ones.My dog is actually an aboriginal dog mix.

Dogs has indeed an amazing sense or orientation, yet, they need to have reference points in order to "reconstruct" it´s way back home, they can be visual, but the other senses play a role too, like smell, specially important in dogs, sounds, etc..., so, if the dog walks too far away, probably will get lost, since dogs have a very short memory. I congratulate you for your good heart.

I don't think i did anything great to that dog.I did what an ordinary dog lover would do.And regarding dog finding its way home, i feel that dog can still find its way home however far it goes, even though their memory is not really reliable like ours.My dog used to go out every time but never failed to come back home.

Actually it is the male dogs that urinate everywhere but i wonder if it is to find its way back?It is actually for marking their territory.I have also heard people saying that dogs urinate to find its way but i dont think it is true when i heard about the territory marking of dogs.
