I made a mistake here

I wasn't sure what when wrong whenever my discussions get deleted. I am always met with rude shock to see my discussions get deleted without explanation. But this time around admin have the courtesy to inform me the reason behind the deletion - 'Repeat Topic'. Ah..fine with me and serve me right for not taking the initiative to search before writing. It is a bitter lesson learned and is a reminder that I should not repeat the same mistake. It shows admin is improving slowly by coming back to state their reasons and hope to see a closer ties between the Admin and members.

HI Zandi! Your discussion tells us that we should not 'repeat' our topics. I also felt the same way. One of my recent discussion (when mylot was not working properly) was also deleted. The reason given was - we can not make discussions on anything related to mylot functioning. I felt bit disappointed, but realised later that we are supposed to follow the rules and regulations.

There seems to be other rules that are hidden of which we are unaware of.

That is good that they let you know why it happened. I have never gotten a response from admin before.

Same here, steph. As far as I can recall, the admin just couldn't care about giving responses to the queries of the members. We will just see that a request has been acted upon or been left as nothing much ado. At times, the response gets reflected in an alert or two. I would consider this as an encouraging development, too.

Hello Zandi, Oh yes it is painful when our discussion is deleted for any reason but it also gives us a lesson and indicate us to be more careful next time.I remember one of my discussion was deleted i was really hurt firstly because it gave me a pinch that i am still not familiar with the guidelines and secondly for those who responded on my discussion and lost their earnings. But zandi i have got a notification from admin and the reason for deletion of the discussion was mentioned on it. I would like to give a suggestion if admin is reading my response that when our response gets deleted from MYLOT as discussion is deleted we should also get reasons mentioned in the notifications so that we may be able to get more familiar with the MYLOT rules.

They have started sending reasons for their deletion of our discussions. This is an improvement that I've noticed lately.

When one of my conversations is deleted most of the time the reason they give me is because is gambling or pol discussion, which I don't understand,it feels so bad after taking my time and search to create a discussions and this happen, but it is what it is.

The rules here are only guidelines and probably there are another set of admin rules that we don't know. It is something like 'Post at your own risk'. Our discussions might not met admin approval and we have to accept in good faith when our discussions are deleted simply because admin see it unfit for the public.

Yes you are right. But anyway I am so happy with Mylot because is the only site that I know that have pay me! so I am just going to try to be more careful each time that I begin a discussion.

It happened to me several times not because I posted a repeat topic, but because I responded to a repeated topic. So this says two members are at a loss. Can it be averted?

Yes, the quality audit should take place in the initial stages instead of deleting after publication. It is causing a disappointment in both the discussion poster and the responder. Why this repetition? I opine, curbing repetitions and mediocre discussions should be done at the ENTRANCE.

I should suggest that all discussions be scrutinized by mylot admin before going on screen so people are not trapped into responding.

Hello Zandi, I think that is quite good to inform us about the reason. Earlier we had no chance to reason for the deletion. I have replied one of the topic about the problems in mylot recently (There were plenty of topics started on the same but I replied only one as I knew that it will get a cut) and get notification on the deletion of same, here they are not informing the reason, but telling only the topic itself deleted. But the starter has the right to know the reason for sure.

Hi Sreekala, now admin is giving us their reasons for deleting our discussions. It is good that they have chosen to do so otherwise we will always be in the dark and could repeat the same mistake in future.

that's good news! it is always shocking to learn that your discussion was deleted and nobody was there to explain why. i was actually planning to start a discussion about suggestions for improvement for MyLot and this is included. but i withdrew my plan in thinking that it might get deleted, too.

The admin should be more flexible and welcome any suggestions for the betterment of this site. They shouldn't just ignore their loyal members views as we are but their pillars of support in mylot. Without our support, mylot would not have reached where they are now.

Hi Zandi, indeed i was very surprised that the one discussion which created by you had been deleted as well. I had received your comment and though of giving it a reply after i have my dinner. But when i follow the link, and saw that discussion was no longer available due to violation of rules. Hope you don't feel very sad about this matter. We can always bounce back and continue participating actively in here. Hope to see you more often, my dear friend....

And that one recent discussions was not a repeat but went down as well. Maybe it coincides with the many similar discussions around that time and admin did not scrutinize thoroughly the contents before branding it 'repeat topic'.

Zandi, have you tried contacting the admin? I mean, asking him why he consider your recent discussion as a repeat topic? Maybe he will give a good explanation about it, so we won't repeat it anymore. It is sad to see discussion with many responses just gone that way.

It is normal dear, it happens sometimes I think. Sometimes you might have a question and become too curious about a discussion that you forget to see if they have it or something.

I saw few discussion being deleted and I posted my responses with some of those deleted ones. It's hard to determine those repeated topic no matter how i tried to read and check the discussion before posting my response. I guess since mylot is here for 6 yrs, repeated topics is unavoidable.. mylot should implement new rules regarding this, or else newbies will be disappointed each time their discussion goes to deletion bin. Have a good day

I am with you on this. Admin should not be too harsh on this repeat topic. Though there maybe similarities but definitely there are additional views which might be of public interest in those discussions that were deleted. It will demoralize newbies if their discussions were deleted when they try to make their maiden posting. I hope admin will scrutinize each and every discussions before chopping them down.

It's always been in my case the admin states the reason(s) why my post has been deleted. Sometimes the fault is not on me but the discussion itself went against the rules. It does happens to me,too sometimes and you're right lessons are learned. The admin is always on the watch out and always fair to the members!

OH,I wasn't aware of that.I been lucky or might be my posts were not based on old discussions,I didnt know that admins could delete any discussion for this reason. ..Zandi I still can see many posts of similar topics specially when any new user joins to mylot and first post s/he puts about earning money either by asking or suggesting.Anyway its good to know that they are moderating this way too.

Thanks for posting this. We learn from our mistakes and I am all for that. I want to clearly understand the guidelines in connection with duplicates. What do you think? Is this a good idea for a topic? Shoot, I just got zapped because I am pole dancing. I want to understand who this fellow Pete is and why I should search for him? The next comment might well point out to me that I need to read the guidelines and faq's eh! My little point here is I want to do the right thing and will want to try to be the best I can be in the creation of posts so they are not deleted. I'm willing to learn just please be patient with me. What is a duplicate? duplicate duplicate duplicate.

Even though I am a stale member of this site, I am just as ignorant as a newborn baby. It doesn't mean that I've not read the rules of this site, I did and the rules are all at my fingertips but there seems to be areas that the rules didn't cover and it takes admin intelligent judgement whether to delete or let any discussions stay. This is something that I could not fathom the deepest thoughts of people in power.
