Hello my fellow people.
Wanted to just share and get an opinion of everyone regarding texting a driving.
How many of us do actually text / email while driving a car or bike?
Do we actually know the potential dangers we could be placing ourselves and the fellow people around us?
In a recent study undertaken it has been proved that people who are texting/emailing while driving/riding have a reaction time TWICE as slow compared to the people who are just focused on driving.
For example if you have to brake and you are not using your phone or electronic device it will take approximately 1-2secs to apply the brakes, while a person who is doing so such as texting/emailing will take around 3-4secs to apply the brakes for the same.
Please share your views.

I think it is very dangerous not to focus on driving when on the road. It seems a lot of people agree but they still do it! If I have to make a call or something I pull over to the side of the road or in the parking lot, before I even start the car. I do this because I KNOW there is no way I can do two things at once so I don't even try.

It takes a lot of patience to pull over stop and make call or text.I hope we all develop the attitude to be patient and save lives...

I'm not sure where you are from, but I do know that in many places in America it is illegal to even talk on a cell phone while driving. I don't think I would want to text while driving because if you take your eyes off the road for even 5 seconds you put yourself and others at great risk, especially if you are driving fast. I read somewhere recently that if you are driving 70mph you can travel 29 car lengths in 5 seconds! No wonder so many people get killed in such situations! I don't think I would even want to try to text on a bike.

Texting while driving is really dangerous.
This happens everywhere and should be avoided if only people knows how to discipline themselves.
While driving one must think that life/lives is in their hands and should be a responsible driver.
have a good day

Hi Jai sis, indeed we should never do texting while driving. It is a very dangerous act and could result in having a road accident. When we involved in serious accident due to texting, it could harm the lives of people inside the car or even the people on the road as well.

I am really against this, since it has been proven to have caused many accidents and still some people do not learn. I have seen many drivers calling or texting otehrs while driving- fortunately no one got into an accident yet.. But prevention is better.

I am totally against texting while driving. I am also against calling while driving. My car is a NO-PHONE ZONE, the driver seat at least. Of course I will not force my friends not to call or text while on my car. I am fine with that as long as they are not the one who is driving. I find that action really selfish. People lost their lives because of such actions.

Thats really awesome and i think something which everyone should try to follow.
Even talking does distract even though we talk on handsfree as eventually our mind does think about the conversation and cannot fully concentrate on driving.

It is a dangerous practise to text or take phone calls whilst driving. So much so, that it is against he law to do either in my state of souht Austrlia. If you get caught, you get a heavy fine.
They even ammended the law to stop people texting at stop lights. The stats you give are accurate I believe. A car can drive quite a few metre sin 1-2 secs, and in this time, your eyes are not on the road.
Good topic.

Hi Naim, it is always wise as not to do any texting while driving. I even avoid answering the phone while driving. I think it is too risky to do those two things while we are driving. We should concentrate with driving when we are on the road. A safe journey begin from our inner self. We should always know this is appropriate behavior and should always maintain them. For the safety of ours and other lives, it is best to avoid texting and answering phone while driving.

I think it is a very dangerous practice to text and drive at the same time. No matter what kind of phone you have, you eyes can't be focused on your driving if your attention is somewhere else. if you need to text, don't be the driver. it is much safer for everyone that way.

I haven't experience that, because a car nor a bike. But I saw someone doing it. One day, I rode a van on my way to our office, which I don't usually do. To my surprise, while on our way, the driving is talking with someone on the phone. Then, suddenly another jeepney driver go on our way. Without noticing by our driver, we almost bump in the street post.
That was really horrifying!

Oh yes, I totally agree. I am also in full support of the cell phone driving laws being implemented around the country. I only use my cell phone when I'm driving if I'm lost and need directions, and I never ever text! People need to realize that driving is dangerous and that a car is a weapon!
