The word " PITY " - emerges spontaneously from the core of our hearts...when ever we come across a situation or a person who is in the suffering condition because of his karma...
An old man sitting at the road side asking for alms really makes us pity for the condition he is in....
Do you feel this....in your life..???
Please share your thoughts on this...

When we feel pity on someone, of course we would express sympathy. That's the normal response for us humans. However, I prefer to pity someone if he or she is trying to move on for a better life. For example, in your case, you express sympathy on the old man, asking for alms. But, do you really have the capabilities to help him? The answer lies between yes, and no. We can help him by giving money, so that he could buy some food and survive.
However, for some people who are gifted and more capable, they should provide a greater help to the beggar. Such as giving him a shelter, or even a job. Most people do miss these.
Nevertheless, what I'm trying to say is, most people prefer to express pity and sympathy, but failed to understand.
It is better summarized by one word, and that's 'empathy'.
Happy Mylotting!

Very very glad to go through your so nice and informative response...Many people take a chance to lend some money for their purchasing of food but do not take the chance of helping them in a big way...it is all an individuals choice of help - we cannot comment on this...
Any how good to know the right word 'empathy' now I know the difference...
