Have you got any influence on someone in your character formation? Some people used to say that they are following certain people's life as their guidance. Is at any point of time you may think that you are living with certain principles which are adopted form the life of someone you really like - or just live the way you like? What you got to say on this?

True, in the normal course of life, this is the way it works. Initially we get influenced by someone or something which we think it is fine. Also, as and when we grow, we get many option which are good as well as bad. Once we start realise the things properly or start facing the real facts directly we polish them as per our requirement to manage a better life. I think this is how it works.

I follow the example of my father.
He is a very good man, from him I learned that the most valuable thing the human being have is our word, because of this I always try to obey my word, if I have promised something I always try to do it, at the end of the day our that is me, what I say is what I am.
Promise only what you can deliver. Then deliver more than you promise. ~Author Unknown

Hi,
I really enjoyed your words and you are true that if we cannot fulfill our words, we have no value. Our value in most cases depend on what we speak and how it make impact on others. Just like you, even I chose my father as the best model for my life. He influenced me a lot and I love him a lot, and a lot more.

Great! so each day is a new opportunity that we have to show our love to our parents.
Let's pay back all their love and good examples, all the lessons learned, giving him a phone call, helping him on doing something like maybe washing his car, or whatever that thing that can show our love and respect for him.

Hi,
Most moms are so sweet for everyone and only because of this reason, most people simply accept mom's life in their life for a sincere life.
Thanks for your comments.

Hi thanks: I usually try to follow people wh are financially successful and people that are following their dreams. At the same time I love to follow the people that have made us think with their actions and their work about how we can make the world a better place. And I have my professional role models. So it's not just one.

Yes, we accept things when we are getting shaped and once we become stiff and bold, we shape them as per our requirement. This is the way it works.

At sopme point in my life yes.
I am only influenceif I know it is for the betterment of me.
But if i know it goes beyond my virtue, I will not go with what other people say or do.
I am influence by by father who is a drunkard but has good virtues
He does not only give me advices about life but he practices some.

You come more close to me. As you said, for me, my father is the best selected model person in my life. Also, he used to drink and only because of this nature, we become hopeless. But as a person and model, he had got a lot of acceptable qualities as a person. Though he used to drink, he was harmless and he had to do it as he was doing such a job which was so complicated and need more care and attention. He was a nice father and taught many good things in life. Only because he used to drink, I never tasted it. Looking on his nature, it was my first decision not to drink in my life and I follow still now. This is the way he influenced my life and as you said, accept the things what we feel good and not just a copy & paste.

hello thanks,
Not to the extent of idolizing that person.
Maybe following some principles, good traits and character of the person, nothing's wrong I think.
Following or making the person as role model or inspiration to achieve a goal, yes!
But,idolizing is not good anymore.
Yesterday I wrote an article someone who idolized Superman since his childhood and gone surgery to look like Superman.
It's another story then.
Have a good day

When it comes to idolization, it can be foolishness but when we grow we get inspired by something or someone. I think many people have a silent inspiration (sometimes unknowingly) it creates an intention in our mind to get more polished. For an example, I am having a lot of characteristics what my father had. Not as he is my father, but I realised many acceptable principles and characters which he had. If we choose and select such ideologies from certain experts and known people, it not at all bad because they must have done some influenced in our life.
Similarly, we can find certain people who spoil their life also just following certain people who are not worth and they become notorious in their future life. We can adopt and access, but NEED to shape will with our own way or how we need it is to be shaped.

Hi dear thanks
As kids we grow up taking someone as an example and role model. But as we reach a certain age we tend to have our own conceptions, undertsandings and beliefs that get going as we learn from our experiences.
I believe in this as I grew up admiring and following my late grandfather. When he expired, and I was all alone, I learned out the things from my own experiences and today I have a mix of both - his preachings and my experiences. This many a times has helped me in finding the right ways to do my thing.
A complete adoption of anyone elses beliefs and faith always will land us in problems as we would never know how to face the situation or rather handle it the way we can- we cannot live another person within us all times.

Hi Sid,
Yes, I remember that you have so much of attachments with your grandfather. Similarly, I have such a friendly as well as so connection with my father and he had made a lot of influence in my life as a role model. Though he had draw back in certain areas in his life, as a pure and genuine man, I respect and adopted many of his life principle in my life as well. I love him a lot.

With regards to my character I don't imitate or follow someone's behavior or mannerisms just to be likened by anyone. I just adhere to whatever good character my parents have taught us while growing up.And as long as I have not mistreated others or step on someone's toes I'll stick to my principles.

As long as every one has their own way life, it is practically impossible to imitate someone else as it is. However, when we get shaped into a perfect man/women, knowingly or unknowingly we could get a liking for someone with whom we like more. It is natural and because we all are not fully equipped by birth and all what we have now is slowly implanted and gained through a phased manner.

I would say it's a no. I am who i am and nobody shall influence me. I like the way i live and i'm happy to be so. Though we are learning from people's past experiences, still it's our life. What works or doesn't work for them, doesn't mean we have to follow. Everybody's limits are different and my character is to go the against the tide. I'm not being rebellious, but we only live once.

Now I am the way you said. But I have a life which improved phase by phase and I have selected automatically influenced a number of people and I think what I am now is the result of these influences only. I used to consider many things many people in different ways and finally shaped or formed my own nature. It is totally different than everybody but when I shaped my own nature they contributed their own part and I hope this combination of different qualities are the result of my nature. It not directly acquired in one day, but happened during the course of life and not the product of one day.

I never pattern my life with anybody else life. I just go on with the flow of life and adapt what i think is good and best for me.
As long as i am not stepping on anybody's shoes , as long as what i am doing is what i deem to be correct and as long as i am happy, i will lead my life as it is.

My family. For obvious reasons, they are the very people that mold me the kind of person that I am now. And also my true tested friends. They have been there to guide and support me. During my good and bad days, they are there.

Many people are the same way that what you have. We are getting characterised by the surroundings of our family and the other family members really influence our life in several aspects. As you said, our friends also have a great deal of influence in our life nature. Some people used to say that looking on the nature of our friends, people can make out what is our nature and character. To an extend it is true and it is a fact to an extent.

In fact, our role models would help a lot in our life in various ways without even our knowledge. Whenever we are free and happy in our life, their influences works silently in our minds.

I was asking in general. I think in everyone's life few people have some way of influence, especially which forms in the early life, especially when we are in school and college. Because we learn more and come to know about many things in school time and the known people from the books, people from our history, films, our close people with whom we have direct contacts etc. have much of influence. You got your brother and for me, I found my father as the best model for my life and he had influence my total life in all respects.
Thank-s

You are true. When we were in school & college it's a kind of addition to get someone as our super model. As you said, even I had the same trend to accept good and moral things from my best teachers. I used to think I need to be like that person, keep good morality etc. Especially while teaching and learning, I used to think to become such a person, later in my life. So many such people have influenced in my childhood life and even now also, feel like accept good things from our respected people as they are always feel fresh and relaxing.
