What do you prefer: an Individual Work or a Team Work?

Initiative drives a person to do what he must do. Well, if you lack this you'll be missing a lot. Like for example, groups - a member of a group should work hand in hand with his co-members, this is the normal one. But what if in a group of three or so, you're the only one doing all the work? It's unfair and unjust on his part. Now, because you have this initiative and the concern on the assigned task you'll probably nod and say "I'll just do it."
Well to cut it short.. with this problem I see on groups, I'll rather work on my own.

I think I prefer individual work, too. I'm like that kind of person who has to settle every problem with his own hands. When in groups, there's too many opinions, sometimes even fights. I know maybe it will be more efficient with a good team work. And if I work alone I might be wrong. But I will take the responsibility for the conseguenses. There won't be any excuses or anyone else to be blamed for, so I probably won't make the same mistake next time.

I see this is as common problem too but lets digest different conditions a little.
Condition #1
You receive marks as a group. Therefore if you want to receive a good mark you need to work extremely hard while others do little yet they get the same mark as you. This is unfair. An individual effort is better.
Condition #2
You project is cut up the frog and write about the internal works. No one wants to do this so you do it. The rest of the group however does the write up (even if it is poorly done)and this unhappy task gets completed quickly and out of the way. This works best as a group effort.
Condition #3
Same as condition #2 but everyone does their own write up on the subject of their choice. Since your subject was 'how do groups function together' you get a perfect mark or perhaps more satisfaction and learned something from the exercise. This could not be done except by a group effort.
Condition #4
You feel uncomfortable with the group because they all have big lips and drool. An individual effort is better.

I have been an independent worker for some time now, and I wouldn´t change it for a team work anymore, I did it, when I had to work in an office, and there is a lot downs, at least for me, I actually prefer my independence, and be the only one responsible for the consecuenses of my decisions, instead of dealing with other people´s egos. Of course, being in a group can be more interesting and challenging sometimes, but I don´t think I can go back to that anymore.

If it is team that pulls their weight, then teamwork is fine. I'd prefer individual work a lot of the time, but there are going to be a lot of times where a team effort can really be extremely helpful. I do think that there are many team assignments that have in fact gone rather well to say the very least. Then there are many team assignments, well the less said about them, the absolutely better.
In theory, individual work is my favorite but I'd play ball and work with a team if it is necessary. If the team is willing to play ball as well. When one or two members of a team do not pull their weight, it really does raise my stress level a lot of the time. It is unfortunate to really think about but it is extremely true. So yeah, individual is my favorite but I have been a part of assignments that have gone rather successfully with team works. And some not so successfully.

It depends - if you have a good group, then I think working as a team can be a lot easier than doing it all by yourself. More often than not though, you end up with crappy teammates and then it's just much easier to work by yourself.

Hi KimLuchia, I am like you. If that's the way
group work would be, then I would rather work
all by myself. I believe I am more effective
in individual work.

Well, I usually prefer individual work over group work since I have major control issues. Even in a group work, I tend to bulldozer other people and hog their work - because they weren't doing it at all after pleading, begging and threatening.
I exactly know your sentiment but there are also times when I was thankful that I was in the group. The group actually cover my share of work because I agree to a kind of compromise. Though I didn't really contribute much (it wasn't my arena of expertise), I was glad that they gave the option of doing something rather than being left on my own, without no clue of what's going on..
But majority of the time, I'm fine on my own and it's better that way.

For me, I prefer to work in groups but of course I would prefer to choose my groups. In school I do get group tasks but my friends and classmates I know are very hard working and we always get everything done. The good thing about group work, you can contribute a diverse range of ideas and you can get help from other members. But the wrong people are in your group then I guess it's you doing all the work. That has happened to me before and I hated it. Especially when you get good marks and the other person in the group gets the same marks as well even though they didn't do nothing. So it depends on the people in your group but stay on the safe side and just do work individually the way you like it.

Most of us actually prefer to work individually. This is to avoid situations like you mentioned. but thing is, even in a group, we still should work independently. Being in a team should only mean that the work load gets broken down to smaller tasks, and each member should be assigned a task to perform. That is how it should be in a group but that doesn't always happen.

i think if you have a good team ,then the work will be more effective than independently work, but if your team not friendly and good, then it is better than work in the team!

Team work is okay because it makes a task easier to do if each member cooperates but I prefer an individual work. I've experience those team works and the result is not that good. Well, it depends on the members but most of the groups that I worked with before, I can say that there are members who are irresponsible so the task won't be done that fast but unlike individual work, I have no worries of contacting my members and assigning them what to do because I would just do all by myself and it helps me to be more productive.

I prefer individual work rather that team work.. you cannot show your work talents in group work and you will be just an another person..

i have an experience work with the other people, but it make me unhappy.it is difficult to found some good members to work with.every once, i am the only one people doing the most work.the members i worked with did not have the sense of responsibility.team work can only delay the finish time,so i prefer like individual work, but if i meet some people have responsiblity,i am very happy to work with them,

Individual work and teamwork both has its advantages and disadvantages. With individual work, only you will be making the decision and all the work. So, all you want to do will be followed and there will be no blaming of mistakes at the end. But the disadvantage for this is you won't be having any help. For teamwork, I think the work is faster since there will be a lot of you who will be working but this is only possible if everyone will do his/her part. The disadvantage for this is when there are problems with the end product of the work, usually blaming will occur, as to whose idea was it. Disagreements are also common with teamwork since there will be the clashing of ideas.

I prefer individual work too,but my reason is not the same with you.I am always want to contral all the situations around me.When others want to cooprate with me,they will impact my plans. When there comes differences,I don't want to persuade others when I believe I am correct.Thers is no time talking!Just do it by myself!
