Hello everyone, How are you doing today? Do you have plan to travel to Indonesia this month? If you are in Indonesia or have plan to visit Indonesia this month I suggest you to visit Yogyakarta, on 16-18th October our Sultan (King of Yogyakarta) will held a wedding party for his youngest daughter, well you can say this is a Royal Wedding. I know that we cannot compare our Royal Wedding with Prince Harry and Kate's Royal Wedding, but I can tell you that this is going to be a wonderful event, you can see the culture of Yogyakarta and many more. and not forget that on 22th October there will be Jogja Java Carnival.
Im so excited and I have several friends whom I know from other forum is going to come to Yogyakarta to watch the Royal Wedding and enjoy the culture of Yogyakarta. I've been a little busy lately, try to help them to find good hotel for them to stay. It will be my first meeting with people I know from the online forum. One of the people I will meet is a girl who lives in Japan and she booked ticket from months ago because she really want to see this event, Im really happy to help her and get some informations for her.
By the way, have you ever been to Indonesia? do you have Royal Wedding in your country and how is it? perhaps someday I will have the chance to visit your country, so lets share.

This is going to be a big festivity and I wish I could be there. Some years ago, I was in Jogya, went to the Wayang Kulit Museum and bought some beautiful wayong kulit puppets.
When I was in indonesia I attended a wedding at the island of Banka, that was very interesting and beautiful. We did not know the bride and groom, were only passing and invited to join. Indonesian people are very kind or is it because I am a 'belanda'?
We won't have have any Royal Weddings in the near future in the Netherlands. Our Crown Prince Willem Alexander married Maxima in 2002. That was a big ceremony.
I wish a a very happy day for the Royal Wedding.

Hello Mivvvy, nice to meet you and Im really happy you participate in my discussion and also shared your experience of your trip to Indonesia. Dont worry I will upload pictures and videos of the event, so even if you cant come but you still can watch it later.
Wow you are from Belanda and it seems you have visited several places when you were in Indonesia. I never been to Bangka but yes it is beautiful island, I have friend who works in a resort there. Every province has it owns wedding tradition and this one is going to be a big wedding, the King invited 4000 guests and also held festive for the people. Oh my God im so embarassed because actually I never visited Wayang Kulit Museum, but my brother has wayang kulit collections at home. I like visiting temple such as Prambanan Temple, Borobudur Temple, etc.

I promise I will upload the pictures later, I never been to Pelabuhanratu it is a little bit far from my hometown because I live in Central Java but I've been to Parang tritis beach (many believed it is where the Ratu Kidul's palace is located) oh yes Im interested to read your story, it is amazing to meet a foreigner who knows a lot about my country. You are always welcome to visit my country anytime. I think there are many people in east part of Indonesia still spoke Dutch and many of them studies in Netherland.

I am looking forward to seeing your photos of the royal wedding. I visited your country many times, travelled in Sumatra, all over Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumba, Sumbawa, Flores, Timor and Alor. In spite of our colonial past, I always felt very welcome in your country.
We also met some older people who still spoke Dutch. The kepala dess of a small village in Flores sang het Wilhelmus to us, the Dutch national anthem.
I wrote a story (in English) about Nyai Loro Kidul and Pelabuhanratu. (did you go there?). Send me a private message and I will send you the link.

Yes. We live very close. But, sorry I can not join. I never go anywhere. I know the interesting places in Yogyakarta, from television or the internet. I've only visited a few places. There are many that I have not visited. I live not far from Merapi. If you visit Merapi, you can stop at my house.
@adhyz:Sultan, not invite me.

I traveled to Indonesia when I was 21 years old. I traveled overland and sea from Singapore to Sumatra. I spent a couple of weeks exploring that interesting island. I liked seeing the steep roofed buildings. It was amazing to see the wild orangutans. I found the people there friendly.
The Royal Wedding on 16 to 18th October sounds exciting to me. It will be a fantastic event for everyone. Yes, in my home country Prince Harry married Kate Middleton. It was a special event covered by the television stations. I hope that the Royal Wedding in Indonesia goes very well.

It would be very nice to visit Yogyakarta at this time, indeed. In fact, I have been to Indonesia and to Yogyakarta also once, some years ago. I recall it is a very beautiful city on the northern coast of Java Island. I had the opportunity to see a cultural dance too. It was a very beautiful performance.

Yes I also see cultural dance performance on the wedding party, I was lost in the middle of so many people who watched the festive but it was great. but too bad i couldnt take good picture because I didnt get the strategic place.
Wow you have been to yogyakarta before, that is very nice of you to share your experience with me. Each year we have Jogja Java Carnival, I hope you can visit again and you are always welcome to visit Indonesia. :-)

oh no, I think you have mistaken me with someone else. Klaten is a small city and not many universities there but it is considered one of the best in Klaten. You live in Makassar, right? how about in Makassar do you still have royal wedding there? I live not really far from jogjakarta, but I often visit it because my sister lives and works there. when the last time you travelled to jogja? I can tell you that everything has changed a lot here, it become more crowded.
