CafeMom Emails -- from MyLot?

I have been getting regular newsletter emails from some site, I think it's called CafeMom or something and I keep unsubscribing, but continue to get emails. The unsubscription process says it may take up to ten days for the request to go through, but I've been trying to remove myself from the email list for a month or two now.
I never signed up to that site as I don't have any children and I kind of wonder if I am receiving the newsletters because I am a member of mylot as it appears the two sites may be affiliated. Is anyone else having this problem?
I don't want to start sending the emails to my spam box because it, then, will go toward a Google algorithm which basically sends it to everyone's spam box if enough people mark it as spam. I'm sure the newsletters are exceptionally helpful for parents, but alas no kids here.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on getting off this list? On a slightly unrelated note, I've been trying to get off JCPenney's email list for almost a year now! :P

Hi tipsyflash,
If you did not ask for the message, I would not hesitate to mark it as spam. I would not be concerned about algorithms; if a person legitimately signs up for and receives the newsletter, and it goes to their spam folder, they simply have to mark it not spam, or add the senders email address to their contact list.
Lots of times these unsolicited emails come from spam bots, and attempting to unsubscribe only confirms for them that the message is getting to a usable address. Unsubscribing actually has the reverse effect of what you intend, you'll get more mail.
I have not noticed any increase in spam messages since using Mylot.

JMO, but I would not hesitate to mark any CafeMom e-mails as Spam/Junk Mail if I started receiving them, just as I do with any unsolicited mail. It's also been recommended not to use the Unsubscribe links because it validates your address as being active. Hence more spam.
I don't worry about algorithms -- if it's bothersome to me, I will not hesitate to eliminate it. If enough people mark it as spam, than that means too many people found it bothersome. Shame on the perp for sending their unsolicited mail.

hi tipsyglash how does one get off JCPennys email list as I have been bombarded with emails from them. thank God I have never
got one from Cafe Mom. I hate that as as it takes up all my time I want to use mylotting to try to get back on mylot once it pops
up.I am a senior citizen and not interested in mom stuff anymore
been there and done that already.I am also thinking it could be affiliated with mylot. b ut if I ever get emails from them I w ill just delete them.
