Cognitive Dissonance hah. Nice subject to try and open. As far as the views on the subject I'm not sure what you mean by that. I do know a good example to give of actions generally associated with it is as follows. Say you have a cute little kitten and you love this cute little kitten so much that your hugging it and just petting it, and then all of a sudden you simply strangle it and throw its lifeless body to the side with no remorse whatsoever.That is cognitive dissonance as I understand it. Now my view on it is Im pretty sure that it is a mental condition. I say that because if someone can be that opposite in that amount of time, something has to be unstable in them.

It can be a definition used for mental illness, in addition to the study of the mind. There are many books on this subject, but it did not become widely popular in the world of psychology during the 19th century - in reference to the study of the brain. The majority of scientist lost interest in a mundane subject.
