Can we use .blogspot.com?
or
facebook fan page?
Its just weird that inorder to earn a customer's trust, you need a .com .
If you are planning to start a lot of micro niche bussiness, does that means you need to pay hundreds of dollar just for the domain?

Oucorse you dont need .com for that kind of bussines but most of the people will have more trust if it is a .com :D Right now I am using my facebook but I am not serious about it and my earnings are small. If I really get in to affiliate marketing than 100% I will buy a .com. The money you spend will be payed back to you from your work in no time. I have friends who invest and get their money back very fast but they are very serious about their bussiness. Good luck to you :D

I don't think a domain name with ".com" that only trusted by users, there are other domains like ".net, .org, .edu, .biz" also user trusted. Why an affiliate marketing website not used like ".blogspot.com"? The only reason that domains like ".blogspot.com" are sub domains that registered under a domain name like blogspot.com. If we create a sub domain then we have to follow the rules and conditions of our master domain, otherwise they have all rights to delete our sub domain. Also there is another problem that some marketing companies are not consider our website if we have a sub domain or our website under any other domain.

It is definitely not necessary to have a .com, if you are selling as affiliate. If you are selling as a Vendor, you need extra features to track the sales and you need some extra bandwidth and all that.
Blogs don't have even simple feature of cookie storing. Neither a free web page. That's why you need a professional domain and webhosting.
If you want to start a website with many features of a professional website, then sign up with brinkster.com. It is FREE. (Please note: the username you select will be your website's name, so choose it appropriate) You will have 16MB daily bandwith, ASP file hosting with MS-access as backend, multiple file uploading facility. But, it has some limitations - you can't send automated replies, the maximum size of a single file cannot exceed 1MB, the total storage is 30MB, etc. (But I think it will be enough for you to start. Later, you can switch to a .com with more features as you grow.)
I have used their services for my previous business. It was very good and it never looked like a FREE website, except the domain name. My website had two dots, like htt p://xxxxx.xxxxx.com

Hi and no you do not need a .com. but the thing is traffic. If you have lots and lots of friends and family members who are willing to look up to your blog and are also willing to promote it than yes you can do it using blogspot.com.
But I have brought a domain name. It gives you a lot of opportunities. For e.g. I can create subdomains for free and can promote the same products multiple times to multiply my earnings if you know what I mean. I cost me Rs.7572 but is a 1 time investment if you are willing to make. It also gives you all the stuff you need to make a website without any knowledge of a website.
